Wherever has the best combination of her happiness and a quality education. Of course most of us love LSU- but it's ultimately about whatever is best for her.

This.
My daughter admittedly didn’t have the same options the OP’s daughter did. Mine has excellent grades and one hell of a work ethic, but her ACT scores are merely respectable. Her options were Ole Miss, Mississippi State, USM, ULL (all of which offered her decent scholarships) and LSU (very minor legacy scholarship). She visited all those campuses. She hated USM and Ole Miss, liked State and ULL okay, but absolutely fell in love with LSU. She said it felt like home. She lights up every time she visits. Plus, she’s majoring in kinesiology, and LSU has a great kinesiology department. She starts at LSU this fall and is counting down the days.
Every kid is different, and the decision involves both academic considerations as well as the vibe of a school.

really?

GA Tech is one of the top public universities in the nation and one of the top engineering schools period. As an Environmental Engineer, opportunities from LSU will be plentiful in O&G if that's where her interest lies, but GA Tech opens up an easier path to more opportunities. The Ray C Anderson Center for Sustainable Business and Tech Square campus are built in networks for students to connect directly with innovative companies and students from other areas of study interested in tech, environment, etc... Really a fantastic school.

GT is a million times better than LSU
Yeah I'm not even sure how this is a question. If she wants a good education and a good career, go to GA Tech.

You're comparing apples to oranges with the OP

Lol, there's no such thing as a "great kinesiology department"

Yes, really. She’s focusing on human movement science and wants to go to medical school later. She’s done well in her anatomy and physiology classes and has already met with some of the LSU professors.
Even if she rethinks medical school, she could always focus on OT or PT.

She better get way better at standardized testing then

Georgia Tech lean though. Still time to flip her
What a shitty parental move. GT is infinitely a better university

I realize that. Every kid is different. My point remains the same. The decision is made based on a combination of academic opportunities as well at the vibe of a school. It sounds like the OP’s daughter probably should choose GT.

Tech is a good school and with twice as many guys as girls she will surely fall victim to Tech Bitch Syndrome in no time at all.

You really don’t want a list of GT alum posted.......it wouldn’t help your argument.
I didn't say a GD thing negative about Georgia Tech.
I was standing up for my school.

Outside of the elite schools does it really matter much from a career standpoint?
Where do you cut off elite? GT is ranked 35 by USNews. Tied with Brandies and ahead of schools like U of F Boston College, WIlliam and Mary, Pepperdine, and Tulane to name a few.
LSU is #140
Truth of the matter, however, is that most universities primary appeal is regional and/or industry specific when it comes to the bulk of their placements.
So if the OP is looking for his daughter to get a job near home and GT is near home, that's the place for her to go. Bonus that it is a better school academically, negative on the sports enjoyment though.

If you go engineering specific, US News ranks Georgia Tech 7th, just behind Michigan and ahead of Purdue, USC and Columbia.
LSU is 106th. Tied with Oklahoma State and Tulane. Only ahead of Arkansas, Alabama and Ole Miss in the SEC.
For Environmental Engineering, US News ranks it like this:
1. Cal
2. Stanford
3. Michigan
4. Georgia Tech
LSU is not even ranked in Environmental Engineering.
Affinity for a school's football team is not always a good reason to go to a school. You have in-state tuition to one of the best engineering schools in the world. You can still be an LSU fan and go to Georgia Tech. You'll just have an ACC team to cheer for as well.

I did, and while you were uninformed, I only replied to you because you were the last post. I merely said what the school rankings were, based on peer review, as reported in U.S. News.
I was replying to someone else, not the OP, who stated that "no father in their right mind would let their kid attend LSU over GT".
I was sharing an example of a situation where it wouldn't be beneficial to go to LSU over GT.
Yes, Tech is an awesome engineering school, broadly speaking as evidenced in your US News Rankings. However, the only point I was making is people speaking in absolutes about choosing GT over LSU for any reason, even in Engineering, is short-sided.

LSU (very minor legacy scholarship).
As a rising HS senior my nephew is getting a lot of love and financial aid offers from La Tech. Nada from LSU. He's a four generation LSU legacy, but I wouldn't blame him at all for following the money. I don't know where the money goes at LSU, but it's not toward academic scholarships.

I had success in pointing that out to have out of state tuition waived a few years back, sometimes you either have to bring that to their attention, maybe even raise a little hell

Sure it does, there's just a lot more and a lot better potential applicants.

LSU does have a legacy scholarship in place. And offers automatic tuition discounts for all entrants based on HS GPA/ACT scores.
Either your nephew doesn't meet these criteria, or LSU hasn't sent out their award offers for Fall 2020 entrants.

Anyways, encourage your kid to go to Ga Tech. My wife went to Tech. Walked out with a Civil Engineering degree and four job offers.
