Naaaaa. Real men know the best way to approach situations when it comes to their family. Coming to the OT to talk about how your daughter started her time of the month isn't something a "real man" does.

You don't fall into the real man category so you can't make that call.

Nope.
Nada.
Ain't happening.

That goes without saying, but is not exactly a compliment.

Getting back to OP's original question ...

In general, before they raise children men believe that they will control every aspect of their child's life. That their kids will be respectful, obedient, and successful because Daddy will insist on it. But that is not what real life is like. All humans, your children included, are different and have a brain of their own. So despite your best intentions and efforts, at some point you have to come to grips with this reality.

With regard to OP specifically, the above applies in this situation. Accept the fact that you no longer are in control. I hope you have to this point set a good example for her morally and in the exercise of judgment.

She will get high heels, inappropriate clothing, and want to go places and events. Don't insist on winning those battles at the expense of losing the war. She is going to become a woman whether you like it or not. Hopefully your spouse is well grounded and a resource for her, and you will have a good relationship through it and afterward. There you go, serious answer.

And this is why you post this type of original post on an anonymous message board. There are some decent people still left. Obviously not me, but some

No, I just have a soft spot in my heart for children and have first hand knowledge of child exploitation.

Enjoy

So asking an overwhelmingly male group that contains dads of every kind a question about fatherhood and the trial that await...is bad?

He didn’t post her picture or anything. Or say her name. He’s just looking for unfiltered advice. The kind that is available here

Look, you have people with different opinions. Some will think it’s weird “mostly those without kids”. Some will make crude remarks. Some will give unfiltered advice. There are diamonds in the rough. You just have to sift through the bullshite.

This topic is better left to actual friends.

I find the topic strange, but discussing it with people that actually know his daughter would probably be worse.

A buddy of mine had his wife and four “grown up” daughters all living together.
We went fishing often.

I agree that it's an off putting topic at first blush, but it's no worse than any other anonymous appeals for advice on IRL situations.

How is it even remotely on the verge of being close to leading to something even quasi-resembling child exploitation?
