It scares me that anyone can put any blame on the kid in this situation, much less defend this piece of shite. The way he dragged and dropped the kid (Which looked like he thought was out of frame), was inhumane and arguably sociopathic behavior. I cannot think of any instance other than fricking war that you could justify treating a limp body like that.
Oh the if the kid would have just complied, all of this would have been ok right? I guess a drunks wife can blame her black eye on her mouth for not talking back, right?
From what I saw, the pig didn't give any reason, much less a response to the question "Am I under arrest?" until after he initiated a physical confrontation. After things get physical, all bets are off, and all of you know that. I remember being taught to ask that question in fricking public school if caught in a similar situation.
I'm just finding it really hard to justify any of the cops actions, given the information provided. Yeah, we get it, you don't touch a hot stove, but at some point in time we need to start blaming the person who left the stove on.

the kid rolls his window down (stripping him of what it truly means to be an american, and having all of his rights so abruptly stripped from him) has a conversation like an adult, he goes home and not to the hospital
I know you think you're making a sarcastic comment, but by accident you've actually clarified exactly what it means to be an American. A basic understanding of history will show that budging on even the most minute civil rights and liberties leads to a tyrannical government. This country has staying power as long as we continue to treat even the slightest breach of civil rights with the ramifications it deserves.

What the frick does this have to do with anything?? This kid was being targeted by a rogue cop that eventually caught him, assaulted him to a point that he has permanent brain damage, and almost took his life. For Gods sake at least post pics of said daughter

Can you link me to one person defending the cop in this thread?

That was a reply to a post to Me,from RadBro,where he mentioned about raising my kids to be sheep.
If you look at the top of my reply,it clearly shows who I was responding to. You can go back and look at the exchange back and forth.Maybe then you will understand what the frick it means.

no it isn't. It's merely knowing when to pick your battle.
bullshite. I've read your posts in this thread, and while some are harmless, in others you've made a fruitless attempt to put some sort of blame on the guy who was assaulted. You don't get a pass just because you agree that the cop was wrong. As others have stated, there is no "..., but..." in this scenario.

I gave an example where I picked my battle and did exactly that.
That is great. You went about it another legal way and won. This guy went about it in a perfectly legal way and was assaulted to the point of brain damage. If anything you'd think you'd be more compassionate to his situation if you've also been the victim of an officer overstepping his/her authority.

I have a grown daughter that had to spend money she needed for other things on a lawyer because a shitty cop tried to bust her for DUI when she was under the limit.

On the first page someone says something along the lines of "he only dropped him 2 feet"
It dislocated his jaw.

Had that happen when I was young too. That was many years ago,I didn't even get a lawyer, the breathalyzer results spoke for themselves. The arresting officer used the old Officers discretion clause ( I think that has been done away with)and arrested me anyway, even though my BAC was only .05,at a time when the legal limit was still .10.
When I went in front of the judge,he dismissed it.

Obviously the cop is an animal and only four years in jail for this is an outrage. He should beaten in the head with a baseball bat until he suffers permanent brain damage like he caused that kid.

And you can tell in the video that he intentionally just tossed him down to maximize the impact. The mother fricker should be left unguarded in a prison block with the people he has abused.

I really don't understand the point that you or LNCHBOX are trying to make. Both of you seem to have had run-ins with the law that were completely bogus, and you've since been exonerated through the courts. Surely you have an appreciation for another person who was perfectly within his rights, doing nothing wrong, and was assaulted by an officer just for the hell of it, no?
To take it a step further, if he "complies" with the unconstitutional request, and nothing happens, then there is no repercussion that removes what is obviously an unsuitable and hopefully a rogue officer from the force. There was no option for this guy to have his day in court UNTIL he was actually assaulted.

Why in the flying frick should there be battles you need to pick? Isn't that the issue at hand?
No one is really arguing that it's not smarter to simply comply...the argument is about why that mentality is even an issue. Why on earth should we, in America, be discussing whether or not it's prudent for a law abiding citizen to turn over all their rights to a police officer out of fear of death?
Am I going to instruct my boys to do what this kid did? no...honestly. Not because I disagree with what his father, THE POLICE OFFICER, told him to do...but because I'd rather my sons live. I admit that's selfish of me. But...that does not mean that when others take the bullet I'm not going to at least stand by them and support their actions. In this case, this kid's actions are solely what got this fricking douche off the street. The kid paid the price for it...which is why he deserves our respect, not condemnation...unless you're trying to protect those types of actions from LEO's.

I don't like smartasses either, but why the cop decides to escalate this is just dumb.
So the kid is a jerk, who cares, water off a ducks back.
I have been saying that police need to learn to de escalate, they may just need to learn how to disengage and re engage later.
Did they say why he was pulled over to start with?

Once people start realizing that the world is filled with psychopaths and sociopaths they will begin to understand this type of behavior from police. Better than 1 in 100. Add to the attraction of the job to certain personalities and you get what we get.

Honestly...the article is worth the read.
Kid had been pulled over previously, and his father, a LEO at another larger department, felt it was unwarrented and that the officer had broken laws while handling the situation. Family called the department to complain, were essentially told to frick off, and then the kid was targeted.
He was pulled over here for nothing. Police first claimed they had a warrant for the car, then had to admit they did not...so changed the PC to tinted windows and then the ambiguous "smell of pot."
Really...this article reads like a horror story.

My point is just this,"when you know you are right, have some faith in the court system, and your ability to win there.Save your fight for court".

That is the issue. But until we live in a world where it isn't an issue, I'm picking my battles precisely because of situations like this one.
