There are some videos on YouTube and Twitter. Pretty big structures.

Two dams in China's northwestern region of Inner Mongolia have collapsed after torrential rain, the water ministry said on Monday, highlighting the safety risks posed by ageing infrastructure during the summer flood season.

The dams, in the Inner Mongolian city of Hulunbuir, collapsed on Sunday afternoon. They had formed reservoirs with a combined water storage capacity of 46 million cubic metres, the Ministry of Water Resources said.

I want to see the current bulge on that thing. I don't think anyone will be surprised if/when it fails.

That’s crazy. They also have that giant Three Gorges Dam that has been measurably shifting. They should consider getting out of the dam business.

46 million cubic metres

Quick google says Hoover Dam is 2.4MM cu meters.

Trying to figure out if that amount is correct for the Lake Mead or not. Seems low.

Further research shows Lake Mead is 26,134,000 acre·ft (32.236 km3) in volume. Or 32,236,000,000 cubic meters

Guessing the 2.4MM is the actual dam size.

Indian Creek Reservoir near Alexandria is 22,500 acre.ft of water, which is about 32.2MM cubic meters...I believe.

For scale, dam failure last year in Michigan was larger.

china doesn't seem to be very good at building dams. When/if that one fails alot of people are likely going to die.
