All signs pointed to manslaughter. She needed to go to jail and manslaughter was the easiest charge. You gashes are uppity.
A simple "I was wrong" would've sufficed.

I did not expect murder to be the charge they settled on. I honestly think this is a manslaughter case, but she shouldn't walk regardless.

She can wave to Sam Houston on her way to Huntsville.

I can't imagine prison is going to be a pleasant experience for a white cop that killed an unarmed black man.

There is no degree of murder in Texas.

Jury gets to determine sentences for murder in Texas? Media just said it was probate able up to life. Lot of leeway if so.

This has been explained in roughly 1/3 of the posts in this 28 page thread.....

I haven’t commented but I’ve followed. Obviously it’s beyond tragic. The quick unanimous jury speaks volumes. I’m trying to wrap my head around just how this is LEGALLY murder. And the question of intent versus negligence. It seems more like criminally negligent homicide. That she heard him, that he was “ contained” in the apartment , and that she continued into the apartment instead of calling other police for backup and waiting must have really been persuasive to the jury.
The castle doctrine argument for me never worked in this case. That misapplied here.

You're going to be called a racist by all the WOKE posters in this thread

It wont be upheld in Appeals court.
This is actually an indictment on the intelligence of the jury.

Sentencing along criminally negligent homicide would seem to apply here. Is that possible?
Posted on 10/1/19 at 11:06 am to Lsupimp
Murder verdict wont hold up on Appel... since there was no motive as stated in this thread ... will be changed to Manslaughter

I think what made this murder vs manslaughter, if I was on the jury, was that she seemed to bring the threat to her, she could have had options and walked away. She did not. She knowingly and intentionally shot the guy.
I don't think she decided that day she was going to break into an apartment and kill a dude. And I think the prosecution bringing the affair into this was waaay out of bounds.
But she entered his apartment, and when confronted with a range of options, she shot the guy. That's murder to me.
