Yeah, that's ridiculous. I met the woman my dad married when I was 19 and even though she's been more of a mother to me since than my real mother has been, I still call her "my dad's wife" almost 9 years later. She didn't raise me, I was a legal adult out of the house by the time I even met her so it just doesn't feel right to refer to her as "step mom". All my siblings do the same and she's never so much as raised an eyebrow about it, but she's also one of the sweetest woman I've ever known and I've never seen her remotely mad over anything.
