Final story from Justin - he says the person he got it from was innocent, but the person that guy got it from “not so much,” but decided to let someone else explain that. Sounds like something shady definitely happened.

My working assumption:

Stolen by nursing home employee
Goodwill story fabricated
Post goes viral
Jacket magically reappears in another resident's closet ("It got misplaced!")
Thief and that resident's family split the reward

No question something shady happened. Hard to tell exactly what or how.

Justin mentioned the money. Did he give it the person who had the jacket? He said something like he hadn't cashed out and he floated the money, but I wasn't clear on what he meant.

That's the only part I disagree with, considering Justin said he was 100% convinced that the residents family was innocent. The nursing home worker who took the jacket probably figured the other resident would be blamed for taking the jacket.

Nursing homes are an absolute plague.

They are another reason getting in shape NOW is a MUST.

Being a fat does more than cause cardiovascular health issues, it also destroys your joints. You need your mobility, in addition to your cardiovascular health to avoid these places.

my wifes grandmother, who's 94, got placed in one a couple years back for dementia. she's actually still relatively sharp considering but it was to the point where she was forgetting to take meds that she needed to stay alive for her heart and she wasnt to keen on having other people in her house. anyway fast forward to the end of last year and her heart condition gets really bad out of nowhere and she has to go in the hospital. it was looking hairy for a bit but she recovers and goes back. Well my wifes dad (her son) starts poking into it and come to find out the fricks at the place she was at "forgot" (they openly admitted to it) to give her her meds for like a week. Needless to say she's no longer there.

A nursing home is a fate worse than just dying at home. I’ve never visited one and thought, yeah this place is nice.

ive been to one i thought was nice. thank it was more "assisted living" but basically seemed to work the same as a nursing home, just much nicer. The lady that was there had a lot of money saved so she would end up in a place like that though.

With my late inlaws, there wasn't an alternative. My MIL got really meaner and physically throwing furniture around. At least at the home, she could be sedated enough

.
My FIL was tall enough that when he became feeble, just getting up up and walking was impossible. He came to our house after some surgery and passed out at the dining room table. Our neighbor's wheel chair was in use, so we realized we could move him into onto any chair with wheels to get him to the guest bedroom. A neighbor helped my husband move him onto the chair and then onto the bed.

I couldn't lift him. Fortunately he got better and could live on his own for a couple of months until dementia took hold.

Just physically moving some skinny old folks is almost always a two person job, and dangerous for one person (a spouse).

Nursing homes are sad but we were thankful that two would take them.

I swear I’ve seen that jacket in person before at a game within the last two years. I wonder how long he was in the nursing home and whether there are more of these jackets. I’m glad the family got it back though.
