We haven't had a good COVID thread in a minute. Damn you Alec Baldwin...
And here's the real deal.
They have quickly learned that setting a number means you have to move the goalpost once you reach that number. It is better to just not put the goalposts on the field at all.
It pains me to link NOLA.com but what you gonna do?

The New Orleans indoor mask mandate is likely to remain in effect after Tuesday, no matter what Gov. John Bel Edwards announces at his 3 p.m. press conference.
City spokesperson Beau Tidwell said Mayor LaToya Cantrell and Health Director Jennifer Avegno will review local COVID-19 data after the governor's press conference, during which he will announce whether an indoor mask mandate will remain in effect amid improving infection and hospitalization numbers.
While Tidwell said local COVID-19 data is improving along with the state's, he said there won't be any change to local rules until Cantrell and Avegno review the new state policy alongside local data.
And here's the real deal.

“Whatever the governor’s announcements are today, you shouldn’t anticipate the city will change immediately," Tidwell said.
He said a combination of factors could trigger changes to local policy, but there is not a specific set of benchmarks.

I think an announcement like this points towards JBE lifting the mandate - or at least most of it.

I have ZERO reason to enter the city at this point.

Its utterly amazing.
"I'm implementing this tyrannical rule with no science or data to support it, and its staying until I say so, and there is no benchmark. What I say goes."
And no one in the media is questioning her, and she is going to win with 80% of the vote.
I simply don't get it at all.

Thank god Mayor Teedy and Dr. Jen are keeping us all safe. If it wasn't for them we would all be dead by now.

Bringing my wife (no pics) to her annual birthday dinner, and in years past we would go to NOLA for an overnight stay. Not anymore. We will be in Metairie instead.

How I’m alive in JP a few miles down the road I’ll never know.

Jbfc, yall are still required to wear masks
So people actually still do it and do bizs actually enforce it?
They are virtually nonexistent in ETN

In Orleans pretty consistently. There are some bars and such where no one cares but pretty much all groceries require them and everyone does.

VERY much so for many. Teedy will drop the hammer on them if it gets on social media and they are white owned.

Having nothing to do with masks.
So, why would they start using these factors when deciding if they should remove the mandates. Reg 1 (NOLA, JP, Plaquemines & St. Bernard) has a total of 56 people in the hospital w/ COVID, 12 of those on vents; yet, they are going to keep pushing for restrictions in NOLA? This just shows it was never about the actual #s when making her decisions.
