I was always amazed at the soldiers that rose to the challenge. It was rarely the PT kings or the self-avowed meat-eaters that turned out to be the hard men. What someone is like in civies or in garrison is often the complete opposite of what they are like when the shite hits the fan. You simply can't judge the mettle of a man until he is tested in the crucible.

Like most football coaches I think he's a simpleton that's life is built around coachspeak but we need that kind of optimism and it's a hell of a lot better than persistently trying to convince people their whole lives are over.

Seriously, who the frick cares about a football coaches' opinion on the coronavirus? The fact that we look to our coaches for guidance here in the South is an indictment of our anti-intellectual, anti-expertise culture. frick Dabo. Don't care what he thinks one way or the other. Same goes for Coach O and Saban or any other coach who knows about as much as I do about this pandemic.

He doesn't say we get it done tomorrow. He says we figure this god damn thing out. No one thought FDR was right when he said we would build 50k planes a year. We built 100k. No one thought JFK was right about landing on the moon.
Hope and optimism are not bad things. Fatalism is a bad thing. I guess you sit jerking off to the death totals all day hoping it hits the millions so you can get off every hour.
