I wonder if he lectures people on privilege like billionaires in the US do.

Baloney! Helicopters are extemely safe - far safer than planes. A helicopter can completely lose power and still be flown to a soft landing.

My guess is that there were severe mountain downdrafts that crashed the helicopter. This might have been a dangerous mission under the existing weather conditions, but that's human error, not a helicopter problem.

I think it has more to do with flying on small, privately owned aircraft than flying helicopters, specifically. Less restrictions, less oversight, more pressure the pilot(s) from the wealthy passengers to take risks that wouldn’t even be considered on a commercial flight, etc.

I wouldn't set foot anywhere near a helicopter if I were worth $17 million. $17 billion? That's just stupid. Darwin award winner.

Of course you would. Helicopters are extemely safe. What happened to Kobe Bryant was because the pilot was handling the helicopter dangerously - probably under pressure from Kobe. This is like driving a car 100 mph through subdivisions and crashing. It's not because cars are unsafe; it's because of the way it was handled.

I bet virtully every billionaire in the world uses helicopters. They are amazing conveniences and are remarkably safe.

Sad he Czech-ed out like Kobe. At least one might have a small chance in an airplane to glide and set down. Not so with that whirly-bird.

Being wealthy enough to do stuff also means putting ones neck out.
Buy a new Ferrari LaFerrari and tracking it can get you killed especially if you don't know what the hell you're doing.

Buying a new Citation Longitude and having a lousy pilot or you get training to fly your new TBM950 and end up killing your family.

Or buying a seat on a spaceflight and it blows to bits.

Oh, I don't doubt it. But personally, if I were a billionaire, I'd spend as much time as possible naked on a beach smashing clams and eating fruit or something.

That said, I am not a billionaire, and it is quite likely that no one with my hunter-gatherer philosophy of life could ever become a billionaire. I just... don't... care enough. Or something.
