It literally refers to skinning cats.
Remember, they used catgut and catmeat for several things back then.
You can make a slit around the neck and peel the skin back like that, or you can slit vertically down the abdomen and take the skin off like a coat if you are using the furs for clothing.

Money can't buy happiness.
No no no.
You have to remember that modern English is a bastard child of old Norse, old French and old English, due to it being conquered by the Vikings, which led to a period of Anglo-Saxon rule, then French rule from the Normands starting with William the conqueror.
The original term for money was geld or gild (think gold, and gilded). Well back then, women were viewed as property. If the husband died before the wife and there was no male in close enough relation, the estate and all it’s valuables would revert to the king.
Therefore no matter how rich a woman may have been, she wasn’t a man, ergo.
“Gild cannae buy a penis”.
With the rise of the Anglo saxons, the letter H was brought into the English language from old Norse.
Over the years, the term gild was replaced with money,
“Money cannae buy a penis”
And then with the Normand invasion, the corruption of the phrase into French produced...
“Money can’t buy happiness.”
Everyone knows that money can buy you things to make you happy, but it can’t turn a woman into a man.

" A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" meaning, take the for sure thing and don't gamble.
It's an excellent saying.

What the hell is the point of having a cake you can't eat?
If you EAT your cake, you don't HAVE it anymore.

Any other phrases you might have questions about? There’s a podcast called Idioms and Idiots that’s very good that covers things like this.

So it's basically like saying "You can't have money and spend it too"? I still think it's pretty stupid

I guess she was bun sensitive.
Some dogs exceed bun size
Some dogs are too small for a bun
Some dogs fit the bun perfectly
Maybe she was having a Goldilocks moment.
Probably was not a keeper anyway, everybody knows the correct answer is not hamburger or hot dog, but bacon.
