Well you should learn the first time

It´s
Fool me once, shame on you
Fool me twice, shame on me
Fool me once, shame on you
Fool me twice, shame on me

I know what the phrase is. Etymology is one of my areas of study

That wasn´t directed at you, but to he whom you quoted.

Nuttier than a shithouse rat

quote:Is that what this saying means?
One in the hand and two in the bush makes perfect sense, it’s better to have one of something then not have any...
I thought it had more to do with assurance of having something NOW is better than the potential of possibly having double of it later.

Something in hand, is more valuable than something, “in the bush.”
The earliest instance of this specific phrase is back to the 13th century. The bush refers to the woods. And is based on a 7th century saying. Essentially meaning that actually having something in your possession is infinitely more valuable than simply having them available in concept.
It is a lesson for prudence and against greed.

Nuttier than a fruitcake

Do fruitcakes have many nuts in them? They are gross regardless

Mouth watering. Has anyone’s mouth ever really watered at the sight of food? Is this a thing?

Never learned about pavlov in HS?

One my father Aussie father-in-law uses is “stone the flaming crows.” Never knew what it meant, and never asked.

But I’m not a dog and my mouth doesn’t water at the sight of food.

Know a little hunger and you’ll salivate at a cracker. It’s not a conscious thing. It’s in reaction to hunger, to desire.
We salivate...the mouth grows wet, it waters... this is not some mystery...it is the whole purpose behind the phrase.
It is an objective truth

Not really. There have never been any defined rules among NA.
But there is Certainly validity in your claim. It just isn’t universal.
