What a disaster phone-based customer service has become.

Calling a number and having an actual person pick up the phone is ancient history. I know it's been a thing for a while now, but once the support desks moved from India to the Philippines it all turned to liquid shite.

Calling in anywhere for help, I have to push 15 buttons before I speak with someone and when they come on, their English is so broken I don't know how anyone can understand what they are saying.

The Philippines-based teams read from their scripts and don't shut the frick up for even 10 seconds to allow you to talk. Their problem solving skills are 100% devoid and they have no decision making capabilities.

The Philippines is a great place to visit, but my god the low levels we have stooped to in order to make a buck as Americans is embarrassing.

Hmm how would that work? We tax American companies for using overseas workers? I wouldn't want to walk that line.

ETA: I can't stand those figs on the phone anymore than anyone else can. I'd rather they just suck and eventually some American company actually hires some real useful support to out-do these guys.

Just wait until the AI takes over the phone services.
I had an AI sales call earlier.
They're easy to figure out - the voice speaks, then there's perfect silence with zero background noise.

I have BC/BS large group insurance through my employer, they use a 3 rd party Rx company.

I’m not exactly sure what they do but they have to pre authorize certain medications.

I would dare any human on the planet to call them and get an answer, it’s incredibly how freaking stupid these people are. And yes it’s the Philippines because I asked one of them where th F they were.

My company has chosen to keep our call center domestic (located in Texas) and holy shite the turnover there is atrocious.

I do T typically call a company unless I need technical support with a product and I must say that I have had nothing but positive experiences from the call centers based in India. Once you get past the fact that they are in India, I find them pretty technically sound. Honestly, I would guess that they are more technically sound than my company’s call. Center…and we are paying those folks pretty damn well.

AT&T is the worst about it. I have had to call them multiple times and it takes the foreign person 10 minutes to understand what I am saying. However, the other day I called and some American white dude answered, so that call went smoothly.

AT&T has foreign call centers, don’t know what country. They do actually know what to do even they are just reading from a screen telling them how to do it. Unlike Steve in Kentucky with Spectrum who doesn’t know shite and puts you on hold for an hour coming back every 10 minutes with, thank you for your patience Syd I am getting the problem fixed. Hey Steve, can I talk to the person you are talking to?

I went to college with a guy who actually runs an offshoring office in the Philippines. He married a Filipino woman and has raised a family over there. It's definitely a thing.

I had to call Sam's club because of a misdelivery, and when I got there survey on my satisfaction, it had her name and some city in the Phillipines on the sams email.

The problem I've had with customer service calls is that the specialist on the phone has zero authority or ability to remedy the issue.

Are you high? The Philippinos are far, far, easier to listen to the Indians.

There are multiple sites that will give you short cuts to the phone trees, although they change often. Usually, using a bunch of four letter words gets you sent to the next level. Seriously, just start cussing.
