Looking to get a couple of shirts made for my dad for Father's Day. What do they typically run? $300-$400 ea? Any good experiences or stories with them? Seems like they are the place to hit.

He is one of the top custom tailors in the country. By far the best you can get in Louisiana.

Does the air brush t-shirt guy still work at Cortana? That guy was a staple in the 90s.

If I didn't have time to fly one of my haberdashers in from Savile Row and had to slum it, Martinez is who I'd go see.
That dude is THOROUGH. Also, there's likely little chance you'd have them for Father's Day and it's going to be hard to surprise the old man when he has to get fitted for the shirt. I assume you know this, though.

They are great shirts. He puts the date that you received the shirt from him in the collar. I still have two from 2001 and two from 2010.

Can he make this shirt for me?

Why do you need a "custom" - in this case, made to measure - shirt? For the price, you can do better.

You can get like 4 MTM shirts for that. They’ll be 99% of what a “custom” shirt will be.

I was under the impression that Martinez does MTM and modifies his base pattern to fit the customer, but maybe has an extra fitting somewhere along the way. I don't know if anyone in BR does true bespoke.

You walk in, he has an assortment of swatches, you pick your favorite pattern, he measures you then makes the shirt.

Oh, most definitely. He's not taking a shirt from Mens' Wearhouse and altering it, and I wasn't implying that his work is not of extremely high quality. Bespoke clothing, though, is done with a pattern that is made specifically for each customer where MTM is done with a base pattern that may be highly modified for each customer. They're both of impeccable quality. MTM just allows for a more accessible price point (though still not cheap) because not everything is done from scratch every single time and not every option may be available.

I am aware. I worked for another local men's store in town for a few years in high school. You will not find bespoke in Louisiana. There probably aren't many around period anymore.

Why do you think Martinez isn't bespoke? Are you speaking generally, or for shirts specifically?
