I do think he said it could stop the loss though.
At this point, we are so far gone, I don’t think there is anything that can build net new land.
If we can stop more land loss, that’s a win.

We’ll know more about true motives when Shane Guidry gets in the dredging business.
As bad as Landry is on multiple fronts, his association with Guidry is by far the worst.

According to the massive amount of studies by experts in the field over the course of the last several years, the cancelled project would have built what at first glance seemed like a small amount of land over a decent time frame - however, as you point out, net gain is the aim, and any amount of land loss that would be stopped would be a win. This project would have accomplished both - first negating the land loss and then beginning to rebuild.

I have yet to see one study that doubted the effectiveness of that project. There was some disagreement over exactly how effective in actual land reclamation, but even the most pessimistic scenarios still conceded it would slow erosion.
All lost because some cockbite with political connections didn't want to relocate his oyster lease.

More trouble for Louisiana's largest coastal project after Army Corps pulls permit
quote:
Edwards’ administration withheld reports from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers detailing major concerns, including that annual dredging costs could exceed $50 million
A newly surfaced letter from the Army Corps, confirmed Landry’s actions. The agency stated that during the permit evaluation, the Edwards administration withheld information it knew would be important for regulators to assess environmental impacts. The Corps also said the state failed to secure local flood insurance compliance and may not be able to afford critical maintenance dredging.
Edwards admin lied about the project to get the permit, and Graves is all for spending money we dont have. Perfect example of a RINO.
Its not simply a coincidence that former politicians support it. They were in in on the grift. La. couldnt dump Graves fast enough

Current, former LA officials spar over scuttled coastal project (Mid-Barataria Diversion)
Why bother fighting. Can't we agree that we all hate Landry? He's the one that scuttled this after we got federal funding lined up.

I haven't seen any that doubted the design would fail at its stated mission. It looked like a winner, and it was accidentally workshopped when the river overbanked on the east side at Mardi Gras Pass and a few other spots. Sediment was deposited in that area very quickly.

Wax Lake Outlet has grown a shitton of marsh just west of Morgan City. A friend there is hunting ducksm in a fresh water marsh, where he used to fish for redfish.

What is the recall process like in Louisiana?

A high percentage of registered voters need to sign a petition. We didn't get close to recalling Blank Zero, after Katrina. So impossible

By design. Louisiana politicians ensured they'd just about have to commit murder before they could be recalled.

Thats for state politics… local jurisdictions can set their own percentages. For St Bernard it’s 20%

I know Chip, he's a good dude. Though he worked for JBE, he's a level-headed conservative. He was the happiest I ever saw him when he left there a few years ago. Who was the biggest pain in his arse?
I bet you can (Nun)guess...

WITH the ACOE's blessing, the Edwards admin threw out the model that overcompensated for sea level rise due to global warming. So... Do you think that the global warming model should have been used?

went to a presentation years ago where the expert said even if we blew up the levees and let the river loose again, the sediment load wasn’t enough to restore the lost land. Something about up stream dams and development having an effect. I do think he said it could stop the loss though.
If the atchafalaya has enough sediment to build land in the wax delta I would think the Mississippi River does
