The police and the military will absolutely turn on the rest of us/you. They have already shown that they will protect their paycheck and overlords. They love to talk on the poliboard about how they would never do that but every day they prove that they don't give two shits about your health and safety. Make no mistake, these violent govt employees have already chosen sides.

I would pretend to take guns and round people up. Probably just round up liberal homos and say they are traitors. Then pass along critical intelligence to the resistance
Hypothetically of course.

My question to current and former military, if your government called you up to be a part of a takeover, what would be your reaction.....
21 year retired vet here.
My answer... No.
FWIW... it wont be a 'call-up', it'll be a gradual 'tinkering' of your rights AND privileges (i.e: your bank accounts, licenses, certifications, employment, no-fly list, etc. etc. etc......until you comply)

Luckily, I'm an Officer, and am not held by oath to carry out an order I believe to be against the Constitution.

Retired Army. I would've done the same thing Lee did when asked to invade his home.

Yeah the pussies of today's military couldn't handle the old school.

Unlawful order so would refuse...

You have a duty to follow orders.
People think they know what a 'lawful' order is. 9/10 times, they are wrong.
Bottom line, they are going to do what their chain of command says. Hopefully we never have to see it come to that.

Scarily enough, I can think of a handful of E-8s that would attempt to force you.
Same with the Navy. They'd force you because those lazy fricks won't even make their own coffee and would need someone else to do it for them.

foreign and domestic enemies
our forefathers knew the reality that someday...it might be the government they were creating that would become the problem...the American spirit and the ideas of liberty and freedom are not of the government...but of the people....I always reference this little tidbit from another important document of ours...
"that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government"
my oath is to defend the Constitution, if I felt like those in power were trying to usurp that authority and force the military to take up arms against the people...id be a UA m'fer...and would be defending the rights of the people instead...therefore fulfilling my obligation to the oath I have taken...imho...
and what the guy said about Robert E. Lee...I would never fight against my home...

I think it would be legal if a Governor declared Martial Law due to civil unrest, etc. and activated the National Guard to restore order (make arrests, declare a curfew, etc.). Any other use of the military against the american people would be illegal.

This is one of those situations where people take the idealistic road and assert that they'd "refuse the order" and people on the sidelines assert that "our military and police would do the right thing and refuse."
Sadly, than answer is that, when put to the test in a true time of crisis, people will do whatever it takes to ensure the safety and security of themselves AND THEIR FAMILIES.
I'm sure plenty of soldiers/LEO's would strongly object to such an order, but the prospect of their families either being spared or rounded up with the rest of the public would sway their minds.
I imagine a similar dilemma was presented to those who executed the orders of Nazis, communists, tyrants throughout the last century. They object, but keeping their children safe is more important.
I could see all young, single military members forming a resistance easily. But the older, married ones with kids will think twice.

Sorry if already posted. 10 yrs prior svcs here... US ARMY...we cross trained alot with other countries and, yes we US , all take the same oath..It was a heavy rumor that if it ever came down to disarming the public it would likely be OTHER NATO countries because US solders would likely not fire , if needed, on civis....I would not for that only reason.....

But I do agree that while it feels like just based on this thread 99 or even 100% will say they'd fight it, if it actually came to it, it would be a very small minority that would fight it. It's not a knock on anyone, but I'm fairly confident that's exactly how it would go down.
