My god we live in awesome times.

quote:

"Remarkable" -- that’s how researchers are describing the results of a new study done on mice displaying traits associated with Alzheimer's disease.

The deletion of just a single enzyme saw the near total reversal of the deposition of amyloid plaques found in brains of those with Alzheimer's, improving cognitive functions in the mouse subjects, according to the study from researchers at the Cleveland Clinic, published Feb. 14 in the Journal of Experimental Medicine.

Considering my mother's parents both had this it would be awesome if there was a cure.

I'm terrified Alzheimer's is a future fate of mine.

I don't know. This is the most promising thing I've read in awhile.

Fingers crossed.

I'd rather not see my parents suffer through the disease.

I hope so. It's one of the worst diseases on Earth and one I truly wouldn't wish even on ISIS.

Wasn't Bin Laden rumoured to be suffering from dementia?

Not sure, but I wouldn't wish it on him either. It completely strips a human of their dignity and tortures their loved ones.

I imagine autophagy is going to increasingly become more used in medicine and will help a ton. To top it off, autophagy is free. Sometimes Alzheimer's is referred to as stage three diabetes. Ketosis would help if that assessment is accurate. Also the high aluminium in Alzheimer's brains is something worth noting.

I hope for myself. My grandfather had it, my father had it, and I'm next in line.

I pray there is one found soon. I’ve seen that horrid disease’s destruction first hand.

Too late for my Mom. She was intelligent, fiercely independent and terrified of it. She doesn't have a clue- about anything. Sad

Well, I don't know about ISIS because of the atrocities they dole out, but a terrible disease nonetheless. It took one of my parents, and I am afraid it will get one of my siblings or me.

I hope they find a cure soon. My parents both presently suffer from Alzheimer's and it is a very cruel disease. It affects so many people around the victims of the disease as well.

Alzheimer's sucks because you actually lose your loved one twice. I actually think Cancer is more humane than Alzheimer's.

Well the removal of the enzyme has the potential to reverse the effects.

Unfortunately this ^^^. I think one day they find cures for these devastating diseases but maybe not in my lifetime (mid-30s).
