Again though. What is the problem we have with Cuba getting oil? I get why we did. Are we just living on nationalizing oil and US private business interest 60 years ago? That's a lot of money to waste at this point.
Removal of a key Chinese ally 90 miles off our coast. It's a revival of the Monroe Doctrine. The US is eliminating foreign influence in our hemisphere. If you believe that serious conflict with China is inevitable, and many on both sides of the political aisle do, then this is a good preparatory strategy.
Every step Trump has taken, pressure on Canada, pressure on Greenland, Venezuela, Iran, and now Cuba, is being taken with an eye toward removing China's allies and securing independence from their critical minerals. (Canada and Greenland have the largest deposits of bottleneck heavy rare earths outside of Russia and China) while placing us in a position to control Chinese oil supplies.

OK, that explains now. Even though it doesn't make any sense in the way you framed it. China was not involved with Cuba in the 60s. They only became involved because America blocked all of Cuba's other avenues.
It seems like we are just inventing ideas to keep a thumb on Cuba at this point. Saudi Arabia is a massive partner of China when it comes to oil and we are more than friendly with Saudi even letting them sponsor terrorist attacks on our soil with no backlash.

Obama never needed a visible floppy wrist to convey how gay he was. That was just the final nail in the coffin.

Where is Alpha 66 now that the homeland needs them?

Cuba gov is so corrupt most probably didn’t have electricity anyway. Or at least daily or all day. Some years ago I was told by someone who was able to travel on visas there for teaching that citizens couldn’t afford own cows for their own meat nor go fishing. F Cuba.

The embargo on Cuba is something we all pretty much grew up with.
Does anyone truly have some vengeance against them still or is it just habit at this point?
Not sure I care one way or the other if we keep punishing them for shite back in the 60s
I don't think it's about vengeance for what happened in the 60s. It's been a standing policy that we will not accept a communist dictatorship this close to American shores. All of the embargos and sanctions all these decades have all just been an attempt to get them to do what we want, and that's change their form of governance.
Trump's just the first president to really go for the jugular and be willing to break them.

As a non-productive member of society, the communists would remove you from the population quickly and without hesitation.

I can see that reasoning. To me it is very flawed and stuck in a McCarthyism way of thinking. Seems like we have advanced to a game of "why are you hitting yourself?" by cutting Cuba at the knees with threats to anyone trading with them. Then pointing and saying what a failure they are and that they need to change their ways.
I personally wouldn't want to live in a communist dictatorship but our current method is just making the potential situation worse for more than half a century.

Anyone under 30 who can’t recognize CIA regime change ops from a mile away by now is a moron.
It’s pretty obvious that’s what’s going on here.
Just like Venezuela. Just like Iran.
Mexico is on the menu too.

A “pre internet social life” with you?
They’d take no electricity or food first.

There will be a friendly takeover of Cuba. This was right on time for them to run out of fuel. Now will the people rise up and force the regime to flee or will they just step down and have the USA come in and take over? I think they will let the US do a friendly takeover.
I can’t wait until gambling is back in Havana! I hope we get to hear stories now about how 777 gambled and drank with Bugsy Siegel and Sam Giancana in Havana in 1958 before it all came crashing down!

This would be a great time for an “America to the rescue” effort. Pull up a carrier and start supplying power. A then a shipment of red Make America Great Again hats.
