Search youtube for Eddie Murphy Mr. Robinson’s Neighborhood to see what SNL themselves aired in the 80s.
Hell search for the Richard Pryor - Chevy Chase word association sketch

Lorne Michaels approved that sketch

I don't think it's smart in today's day and age to record yourself speaking racial slurs though.

as long as they are all exactly the same and don't deviate from the party line, which we will give them.

What exactly did he say?

And how can people like Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon still have shows in this cancel culture?

That's because people don't understand context

It’s a damn shame what the SJW segment of society has done to this country. Steve Carell was 100% correct when he said The Office could never have been made in today’s world. And that show ran from 2005-2013 for Christ sake! A lot has changed in a very short period of time. Eventually even Hollywood types will get tired of being silenced and break from this extremist left ideology that is keeping this country from reaching its potential.

Stand-up comic Shane Gillis is heard saying “Chinatown’s fricking nuts,” on the YouTube video, called Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast. “Let the fricking chinks live there.”

Belushi would do a speedball and check out again if he came back to the present climate of comedy.

People mad at them for attacking Trump say this constantly. Fact is, their ratings are higher than they've been in a while.

Yeah there were like 2 good skits on that show. It went up against one of the best lineups SNL has had.

I was cheap, hamfisted, try hard comedy that relied on Jim Carey type comedians.

Where are you getting this info from? Ratings are actually down quite a bit

2000–01 4.6
2001–02 4.4
2002–03 4.1
2003–04 3.8
2004–05 3.6
2005–06 4.7
2006–07 4.6
2007–08 4.9
2008–09 5.8
2009–10 5.2
2010–11 5.2
2011–12 5.4
2012–13 5.4
2013–14 5.2
2014–15 4.6
2015–16 4.9
2016–17 4.6
2017–18 N/A

For the most recent season, they've been at 3.8 - 4.8

ETA: And I don't care either way if they choose to be a leftish comedy show vs balanced. They may find that tailoring to one political spectrum results in higher ratings overall. But their ratings aren't on an uptrend.

I swear, by this board's logic David Duke is the funniest man in America. There's a difference between edgy comedy and just being an a-hole.

Was at my Grandparents house watching the 6 o'clock news when WWL mentioned this incident.

They talked to the issue for about 3mins and moved on to the next topic.

Then I heard my Grandmother say "well what the frick did he say?".

I don't think they ever mentioned it.

I still don't know what he said.
