Not sure if mentioned, but this is the same Lorne and SNL who created one of the most famous racial comedy sketches ever with Chevy and Richard Pryor. Chevy calls Richard every racially charged word possible as part of a “job interview”. Richard gives back. The sketch is to see if Richard will get mad on the job. It’s hilarious. Amazing how times have regressed. Richard is rolling over in his grave right now.

Pretty sure he wasn’t saying “chinks” as himself there but was saying what the powers that be at the time must have said.
I’ve heard his stand up before, and it’s very funny but very edgy. I’m surprised they even considered him. He will do better for himself off of SNL in my opinion. His audience is not their audience.
But they couldn’t deny he is funny as shite.
