Most cruises are just a golden corral on a barge, complete with fatties and hideous trolls everywhere.

Think that’s bad, you shoulda been in the bar I was at in Havana, Cuba when the carnival cruise ship folks came in.......
I was ashamed to be an American for that little time.

You can always tell who has only been on Carnival cruises in these threads.
You guys need to realize, there are options outside of Louisiana to take a cruise.

Then I'm not sure why you are so surprised and upset.

You ought to if you get a chance. It's a different world. By making your own arrangements you can travel independently, see more, and spend less than you would on a cruise. And the money goes to actual Alaskans. Very little of it trickles down from cruises.

I've been on a number of cruises and love them. I like seeing a couple different tropical locations all in one week, I love being in the middle of the ocean with a balcony to watch it all go by, food is decent for the most part if you go to the places where you can order off the menu, you can gamble at night or take in a show, there are always some decent excursions to check out, and you can always find a quiet place on board (yes, including pools). And we're OT ballers.

frick going on a floating walmart
Yea no shite. I am trashy as frick and enjoy walmart and Carnival cruises. But I have wealthy friends and older coworkers who take some expensive arse cruises that are like being in a 5 star hotel.
But they run $8-10k for 2 people for 7 days. You get what you pay for, OP.
Floating Walmart is PERFECT analogy.

We went on a Disney cruise in March. Went with all of my in-laws. It was the best in-law vacation I have ever been on. My kids are little (7 & 4), and all of the other cousins are teenagers. There was something for all of them to do and it kept everyone busy. It was expensive, but very cool.
I had almost little to no complaints to make of the experience. Nothing major anyway. I have no basis of comparison as I have never been on another cruise. I have heard though that other cruise lines are not as nice. I have one friend who refers to Carnival Cruiselines as "Motel 6 on a boat." All that being said, I would go back on a Disney cruise any day.

If you only go on carnival cruises then I would fully expect you to hate cruises and think they’re trashy. Cruise on NCL and tell me if you still think they are trashy. NCL is actually somewhat classy.

One of my favorite times of a Carnival cruise is the 2 Elegant dress dinners. They got people dressing up like they going to prom and I roll up with shorts and flip flops every time. I’m sorry but Elegant and Carnival cruises don’t go together.

Only form of gambling on board is bingo. Couldn’t had been 1990. Disney didn’t start the cruiseline till 1998
It was 1990. Looks like they hadn't started their own line yet, but they had the partnership with Premier so it was a Disney cruise. All of the Disney characters were on the ship, daycare was called Pluto's Playhouse, etc. I guess when Disney started their own they nixed the casino

So, cruises or all-inclusives aren't really my thing, but why would one choose an 8-10k cruise over an all-inclusive? I feel like if I had to do one of those I'd choose all-inclusive every day, but maybe I'm missing something.

only been on carnival and royal Caribbean. Will never go back to carnival. RC isn't fancy by any means, but its the difference in shopping at Walmart and Target.
