Subtle “I don’t have any friends who want to go on a discounted vacation with me” brag.

You do realize that even Disney Cruise Line has adults only areas right? Why would I pay as much if not more for an inferior experience on Carnival or RC when I could go on a superior cruise experience for the same price?

This might sound weird to you but a ton of people go to Disney, Universal, Busch Gardens, Sea World, etc. without children.

I see plenty of couples without kids, single people, older people who's kids are grown up, etc. It really isn't that uncommon.

Heck a lot of people I talk to who had kids talked about how different the experience was without children, in a good way.

How is it any different than going to a restaurant alone? Or going to the beach by yourself? Or going to a movie by yourself? Do you consider those things weird? I have talked to people who have come to Disney by themselves. I know coworkers who have gone to theme parks by themselves. As crazy as it sounds solo traveling isn't that uncommon. Why should I have to suffer and not be able to travel just because I don't always have someone to go with? People like you are why so many single people still face prejudice and discrimination.

Why are you so offended by me asking a legit question? I was being sincere by asking. I even said I had never been on a cruise ever. And no I don’t go to a restaurant, movie or to bars alone. Just not my personality. I don’t think it’s anything wrong with people that can do those things. I even envy those types. I was just asking the appeal of going solo on a cruise. Just something I’ve never considered.

I don't think you are going to get the positive reinforcement from this board that you desire, to give you the personal justification as a single male to take advantage of a super cheap rate on a first class cruise line that caters to families with young children and odd-women LARPers, doesn't have a casino and is staffed with fairy princesses.
There is no dishonor in going on a cruise by yourself. You just can't go on this one.

Sorry, I didn't mean to lash out, but there's been a lot of bashing on this thread. I don't look at going solo on a cruise as any different that going solo on any other type of vacation. There is a certain freedom in going on vacation by yourself. You control the itinerary, you can do what you want and you can even change plans at the last minute. It's a very liberating experience.

The other thing about traveling solo (especially overseas) is that you have no one there to insulate you from the local culture. You are by yourself so you are able to embrace the culture more and blend in with the culture. You maybe talk to strangers you would never talk to if you're with other people. You get a chance to meet some amazing people. I think you grow more as a person traveling solo and it's also the ultimate indulgence.

There are so many places I would've never visited if I had to wait for someone else to go with me. That just wasn't acceptable for me.

Honestly, I can't imagine going a year WITHOUT doing a solo trip. Don't misunderstand me, I enjoy trips with family and friends as well, but at least once a year I do a solo trip.

And you realize the majority of the activities are still going to be geared towards children? It's obvious you don't have any worry about COVID-19 since you are willing to hop on a cruise right now.

So since you want to take advantage of the cheaper rates because of this, why wouldn't you take advantage of the cheaper flights right now to visit somewhere else. You can fly to just about anywhere in the Caribbean right now for sub $500 roundtrip and be there in less than 3 hours. There are roundtrip flights to San Juan right now for $101 form Orlando.

You want to go out and be adventurous on your own, you do this. Not sit on a Disney cruise by yourself.

Because there are different types of vacations. Ones that are more about adventure and exploration and ones that are more about relaxation. I actually am going to Costa Rica in May but I do enjoy the occasional vacation where you just relax by the pool with a good drink.

so a Disney Cruise is the option you choose to ‘relax by the pool’?

I have a family member that travels the world close to 300 days out of the year alone. He is retired and travels full time. Does guided trips every once in awhile for a little extra cash. Coronavirus has hurt the guided trips. He absolutely loves traveling alone. I just can’t bring myself to do it but I have a family so not really an option besides short trips.

That, to have a few drinks, have some good food and stop at a few ports in the Bahamas, yes.

Especially considering that with my employee discount it's the same price or even a little cheaper than going on Carnival or RC. Is it that hard to understand?

traveling alone isn’t for me but I’m certainly not against it. Doing a cruise by yourself is weird as frick.

You are a hysterical bitch. If you want to get to the nitty gritty, what about the people who are employed by the cruise ship? Should they go hungry?

Care to elaborate why? Why is it, that for solo travelers, travel in general isn't weird but cruise line travel (any cruise line) is?
