Crowley Police use "Purge Siren" to signal curfew for city, says it won't happen again

In an effort to alert residents to the parish-wide curfew in Acadia Parish, Crowley Police rode around town broadcasting an alarm signal at 9:00 last night, but it's not what anyone expected.
In a video provided to KATC, the audible alarm from Crowley Police is actually the alarm sound from the successful film franchise "The Purge".
Police say they received mixed reaction from the public following the alarm. Crowley Police chief Jimmy Broussard tells us he had no idea the sound was associated with "The Purge". He also tells us he doesn't plan on using any type of siren moving forward.
"The Purge" is a horror film that depicts a time in America when a national holiday is celebrated (The Purge) in which all crimes, including murder are legal for a 12-hour period. When the 12-hour period begins, sirens begin to blare and all emergency services are unavailable.

During the past four years, Robby Barousse has received nearly $1 million in salary and benefits as Clerk of Court for Acadia Parish. It’s helped him pay for a newly-constructed home and a luxury SUV. And it could be the final chapter of political life for a family that has held power since 1886.
quote:
Barousse has been the subject of public scrutiny before. In 2011, Wally Pierce of the Independent reported that Barousse’s chief deputy had circulated an inter-office memo announcing a new fitness program that was, in actuality, nothing more than a poorly-disguised attempt to force employees to canvass neighborhoods and raise money for Barousse’s reelection campaign.

Why do you need a curfew? Does the virus spread more at night? Is it better to have people out at the same time?
Are these small government conservatives?

It most certainly does, and it has an amazing cheeseburger and ice cold beer. Bayou Bend Country Club, BBCC or as it is jokingly called “Acadia National”

My take away of this entire event will be the glee with which government officials ON BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE rushed to restrict citizens freedom. It’s pretty sobering.
