My take away of this entire event will be the glee with which government officials ON BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE rushed to restrict citizens freedom. It’s pretty sobering.

War is coming. And the citizens are stock piling guns and ammo.

The purge siren is an ominous symbol

There is at least one nutcase in any city. Glad this did not set one off to purge.

Are these small government conservatives?

No fricking way. They might claim they are, but Crowley was the seat of EWE's power. It's where he started his political career. Acadia, Evangeline, and St. Landry Parishes have the Democratic machine and political corruption deep in their psyches. That part of the world never met a government entity that can provide for kickbacks or graft they didn't like. See Edwin Edwards as Exhibit "A". See the mayor like 20 years ago that got busted by the Legislative Auditors for buying a dick pump on the city's credit card as Exhibit "B". See a $350k clerk of court today as Exhibit "C".

I don't know if this is still out in front of the Acadia Parish courthouse (in Crowley), but it sure as hell was still standing as of last year according to the article I found it in. They're proud of that a-hole.

It's still there. The politics inside that courthouse is run like an EWE/Huey Long wet dream.

Edwards was named the grand marshal of the Rice Festival within his first year of being released from prison.

It most certainly does, and it has an amazing cheeseburger and ice cold beer. Bayou Bend Country Club, BBCC or as it is jokingly called “Acadia National”

Bayou Bend burger is one of the best burgers in Acadiana outside of Lafayette
