Well... she should have gone to a HBCU.

I had to go back and find this girls name. It is what you would expect. Nafeesah Neenah Attah.

Listen, we are discussing how the gentleman in the video was not racist. There is no need to insert actual racism to get your point about non-racism across. Names are just names.

Not everyone, particularly those with different cultural ancestry, are going to be named Jennifer or Becky. That name likely has some sort of African or religious meaning behind it.

I don't know if it was mentioned yet but the young black man graduated in pre-law and is applying to law school.

One of the 2 females is a microbiology major.

The president was sitting there and saw all lingering students, black and white, being hustled offstage. He was perfectly fine with it until they cried racism.

There were 4 graduation ceremonies that day in the same arena. None of the others had issues.

The real story looks to be that several students held up the already long ceremony by stopping on stage to do their dance and had to be escorted off.

Pretty much this. I graduated from there in 2012 and they explicitly told us not to do stupid stuff like this.

He didn’t offend me in the slightest. I simply made a point that cultural differences exist and that his post seemed racist. If you disagree, that’s cool. But you’d also be wrong and willfully obtuse. Which would not be a surprise considering I’ve always thought you were a dumbass.

It's probably already been said but they should just have two ceremonies. One where people get to dance and chant while they cross the stage and one ceremony where the graduating students act like decent humans.

Student picks. Everyone wins. Even the animals.

You know what else is a cultural tradition - take your shite and get the frick off the stage.

I hope UF grads send letters to the univ president and tell him to start acting like a man and stop apologizing when there is no need to apologize. He is nothing but an employee when it comes down to it, but UF grads will forever be tied to the university, and the name on the parchment represents them as much as they represent the university. Being weak in times like this lessens the respect given to the school and drops the value of those degrees.

It’s called a stereotype because it’s nearly always true.
And you know it.
