they should just have two ceremonies

Hell, I skipped it all. Paid them $3 to mail me my diploma, packed up and hauled arse.

I hate boring arse speeches and ceremonies, even when they are about me.

From the UF Presidents statement:

quote:
The practice has been halted for all future ceremonies, and we will work to make sure all graduating students know we are proud of their achievements and celebrate with them their graduation.'

quote:

Their graduations are going to take six hours now because they just opened the door for people to do whatever they want.

Yeah, I guarantee you they will be backtracking on this...or quietly figuring out some way to continue this "practice"

If you stop enforcing the proper decorum, and getting people across the stage quickly, then more and more graduates will want to do something for their own little "instagram moment."

The ENTIRE reason they have someone ensuring quick exits from the stage is because there is a schedule to keep. LOTS of university dignitaries (including the President/Chancellor/Deans/etc.) are present who have very busy schedules on commencement day. They do not have the time to sit there for 4 1/2 hours and watch every single graduate have their own personal yay-for-me moment.

quote:

However, he may have been getting impatient near the end as he aggressively grabs and shoves several male and female students when they stop to do a victory dance.

I guaran-damn-tee you that the reason the guy was getting so forceful towards the end of the ceremony was because they were already over time, and someone probably even told him that he needed to get the remaining grads across as fast as possible. That's why UF is refusing to name him, and why he will not be reprimanded.

Calling out racism doesn’t=offended in all cases. Just attempting to keep the thread on track.

Not sure about how graduations are done at Florida

At LSU they have multiple ceremonies the same day back to back in same buildings, there is a time allotment because they have to prepare for the next graduation after.

I can bet they were way over the time, when names are called its suppose to be constant movement, there are plenty of people already as it is, then you have to deal with people taking more than 2 or 3 seconds with their dance stalling the graduation

Anyways a graduation is suppose to be a event treated with pride and class

Some types of people just don’t have any pride or class.

I agree generally that graduates dancing on stage look like idiots. The allegation is that white students did the same stupid dancing but weren't rushed off the stage.

It is all about ME. And racism. Nevermind the hundreds of others who will accept their diploma without dancing. And nevermind the thousands in audience who could not care less about YOU.

sure scruffy did a lot of dumb shite @ 21 that "adults" wouldn't do.

Yep, he probably did. There's a time and a place to do dumb shite. The time is not when you're taking everyone else's time and the place isn't at an event that's not just about you. Why do some people feel the need for special privilege to be extra? If one or two do it, it's not that big of a deal, but then to cause a stir after the fact because you were treated like an adult, how everyone else would be treated...that's a pos. Screw that University president or whatever he is for saying anything other than they will continue to not tolerate nuissances and making a scene during graduation ceremonies. Should have actually just ignored any and everything about it and carried on normal business.

Which is false. Video of the guy grabbing a bunch of students and pulling them off the stage.

So the racist thing is again, proven false.

Where is the video to prove this? All I see is these students making unverifiable claims in order to normalize what they were doing and give themselves a good footing to cry "racism".

Which isn’t true, as videos showed.

The fact that y’all believed the allegations at a major university in 2018 at one of the most noticeable events, graduation, proves how deluded some of you are.

This, more than anything else, is what makes me at all the cries of "racism" over the past few years.

The notion that a major public flagship university (a pretty damn good one too) in the year 2018, would actually have instructed an employee to "get those damn blacks off the stage. We can't have none of them doing no hip-hop nonsense" is utterly hilarious to me.

If anything, these universities are doing absolutely everything in their power to avoid being labeled as racist.

Oh no no!

Those honkies who run that university clearly conspired to keep those students down because of racism!

How dare you believe otherwise?!
