And what most people don’t know is a lot of the crawfish you see were actually quick frozen last spring when crawfish were cheap.
How do those hold up flavor and texture wise? I eat flash frozen shrimp and those are fine. Same with crab.

They are worse than insurance companies. This is a Louisiana catastrophe that needs to be straightened out.
Selling way too early. The outfit I referenced, the comments were the bugs were pretty puny. I looked up a site with a somewhat master list of Louisiana crawfish festivals and almost all begin the last week in March and into May. The largest are mid-April to mid-May. That's for a reason I assume.

Catch them at the LA/MS state line from the Pearl River. They are abundant every year. May take a few hours but it's worth paying zero except for beer , nets, and bait. Anyone who pays $300 for a sack is a damn idiot. A smooth hundy is ridiculous. Drought my arse. Turn the faucet on to flood the ponds.

Supply goes up and price goes down, pretty simple concept

Lent is early. Be patient, they'll be plentiful after Easter, and the prices will drop significantly. We boil on the backside at CD derby week, and the prices always are reasonable for live crawfish

What did the owners pay per pound?
You do understand you have a choice in this transaction, correct?

Does government spending cause inflation?

I know, man......it is all made up bullshite. Droughts aren't real, and even if they were the timing of one wouldn't matter one bit. I can't believe people are so gullible!

Very entree is 30+

I've recalled better catches with less rain before. Like I said a million times, the "farmers" are finding more and more excuses every year. People have to realize, it's wayyyy to early in the season.

I went in a Hinge date to Nate’s once. Never again. Overpriced crap

So how much were they charging over what the crawfisher- men sold to them and how does that compare to what they normally mark up?

When do you recall this?
What other year has most of the state been in D4 drought for 6 months of the year with more 100+ degrees days than ever ?
It’s way too early?
Lent and Super Bowl are in 2 weeks
What’s the usual crawfish supply during that time compared to what this year will be?

Price is usually $2.50- 3 to the farmer and $7-8 boiled right now
Price is $8-8.50 to farmers right now

1. Inflation is worldwide.
Europe’s inflationary rates peaked October 2022 and have only risen once since April 2023. China’s economy is actually in deflation.

This time of the year you should be able to find boiled crawfish in south Louisiana for $5lb. But that’s normal year for supply. Supply is still 10% of what is usually is for this time of the year.
