I hate to break it to you, but this is not what made you a jerk. This merely confirmed it.

I gift from my hobby every year.
I like to think that people appreciate getting something that takes time to create and put together; instead of spending 15 minutes are Walmark,

I don’t think it’s fair. I try my best but it’s the same exact principle of “pot luck”. I don’t eat other peoples food. Why? Because of the awkwardness of me not liking it. Them being disappointed. Will I go along and make a plate and move some things around? Sure. Will I accept the gift and be thankful? Sure.

It’s just a whole lot easier if we avoid the entire issue altogether and just enjoy each other’s company. I understand the time and effort you put in but it’s not warranted. Your time socializing is enough. I do not require gifts to enjoy the holiday or your company.

I’m not a pot luck fan either. With family it’s fine because most everyone in my family can cook and those that don’t just bring catered dishes. But pot luck in the big office building i have a rented office? Not a fan. I don’t know where or how those people live

Anyway, you’re getting a lot of shite in this thread, and maybe it’s just your delivery, but I have to agree PVC wind chimes sounds horrible.

I bring the issue here and if people want to get their butthurt over it, their problem. It’s not like I’m taking the gift throwing it on the floor and stomping on it.

I just think it’s narcissistic a bit to think people want crap I make. But hey, that’s me. They can do them.

No. I expect to get nothing and prefer nothing. Just don’t make it weird by giving me junk you concocted in your free time.

My wife makes crafty presents for neighbors and they are really nice and something people use every year. Every crafty gift doesn't have to be poorly glued together Popsicle sticks.

Oh my.

Maybe they are doing the best they can.

Much more to say but will refrain - prayer is the better route

The fact that somebody spent their free time concocting some asinine gift for you is the gift. Accept it and stop being a Scrooge.

You say you prefer nothing, but your OP bitches about "cheapness" and "saving a buck". It sounds like you're just ungrateful and want people to spend money on you, yet you cloak it in this virtuous "I dont need gifts" mantra to make yourself feel better about being selfish.

For some reason this is making me laugh. You should hand the gift to the person sitting next to you and say do you want this.

My mom( no pics) does this type of stuff now, she will take Mardi gras beads and turn them in to some sort of craft, some are cool some ehh, she’s retired now so it keeps her busy I don’t see anything wrong with it.

My MIL made my teenage daughters crocheted doilies for Christmas. It was sweet and she doesn't have much money, but it is also weird as heck. My oldest had no idea what it was. A scarf would have been a better idea.

Just tell people you don’t want any presents. You just want them to spend some time with you.
