so you bring people gifts with a preconceived view of how they should respond? And if and when they don't respond as such, you come and bitch about it here on the internet? Sounds healthy

You don’t shake hands either, do you?

Your new neighbor wears a mask in their own home.

Fact.

Not for me. It’s too ingrained in my behavior. It’s a formal way to greet someone- especially at the initial introduction. I won’t force anyone to do it, but I judge them for their reluctance. I immediately know they are inferior to me and are treated/considered so accordingly thereafter.

You know what’s a sign of respect? Being considerate of other people’s wishes about your need to have to touch them if they don’t want it.

I promise you. People with common sense find your sense of superiority hilarious. Don’t worry. You’re getting laughed at, but do you.

Hopefully the fist bump is here to stay. I don't like touching other people's hands.

This and the elbow bump are two of the stupidest fricking things to come out of this stupid shite.

Either shake hands like a man, or don't.

Oddly enough our species has survived just fine with shaking or grasping hands as a near-universal greeting tradition that's existed for thousands of years.

Exactly why it must go away. Evil gesture rooted in white colonialism, don’t you know.

Unfortunately I think the fist bump is here to stay. I still have a habit of shaking hands and seems most people are fist bumping.

There are a lot of covid precautions that don’t make sense and/or are over blown. Not shaking a stranger’s hand is probably the most sensible and least invasive/inconvenient of the measures taken.

There is plenty that’s safety theatre. Of all the things to complain about though, this one isn’t it

No handshakes is one of very few good things to come from the pandemic. Handshakes spread viruses and have always been unsanitary.
Sanitation good.

You realize this is the entire point of shaking hands right? Unless you want to start bowing? Shaking a hand is a form of respect that you trust them, trust they are clean.

Not shaking a hand is a sign you don’t think they are clean and that you aren’t friendly enough to shake their hand. It’s about respect.
