Folks with snow next to house need to move it. It will melt slightly today and move into crevasses then refreeze tonight and expand.
Easier to move before freeze thaw.
Maybe moving snow off driveway to make room to push snow away from house

I spent some time clearing all of the snow off my car yesterday. In my mind it would just melt and turn into ice.

Was it necessary? No idea.
Was it kind of fun? Sure.

Let us be Old Man Marley for a few days.

Some people need an excuse to get out of the house….even if that’s doing manual labor on property.

Cabin fever is a real thing……

I shoveled my driveway because I want to access my things without getting snow all over shoes. I can walk from my shop without having to take my shoes off when I get to the house.

And you spent all day and night stressing over your neighbor shoveling his driveway.

Hours shoveling? I wonder if the risk of sudden cardiac events with snow shoveling you read about is real? especially for those not conditioned for it.

Easier to clear all that out when it’s snow and not ice. Maybe he wanted to be prepared to leave in case of an emergency.

I have a snow shovel from my last home in Northern Virginia. I have a small dog and cleared some spots for her in the grass. I went ahead and cleared the driveway because I was bored and didn't want to get snow on my shoes every time I took her out.

Isn't that why husbands don't mind mowing the grass all summer long?
My neighbor takes 8-10 hours over two days mowing a 3/4-acre lot. Now it makes sense.

Do people just think this is what you’re supposed to do when there’s snow because they’ve seen it in movies?

It is what you are supposed to do. Your neighbors were right, you were wrong. Take a lap.

I started shoveling mine so my gate would open. Then got carried away and shoveled the entire driveway to the gate.

I shoveled out a few different paths around the place so I can get around with needing to put on full snow regalia.

A $12 bag of de-icing salt from Lowe’s did the trick. Driveway is dry as a bone this morning. At least I won’t bust my arse walking out my door the next few days. Don’t blow on people because you’re the ignorant one.
