Yeah, but does he have a bear claw necklace?

If it’s true that she lost most of her vision and something happened to him she might not be able to navigate back. A Garmin inreach should be used when out of cell service.

Last time I was up there, two baws stopped and got out to look at a bear on the side of the road. They got too close, the bear got chippy and they shot him. To their surprise they caught a pretty heavy charge for killing a bear without a license and out of season.

Sounds like they deserved it. Having a bear come up on you unexpectedly near a home or campsite is one thing, seeking one out is another. Still might catch a charge, but I'd bet they're way more lenient if you're not instigating.

The armchair firearms "experts" here running down a .357 as being useless for bear protection don't have a fricking clue what they are talking about.

A .357 Magnum loaded with 180 grain cast bullets packs a strong punch. Buffalo Bore makes strong 180 grain loads. There are Master Guides in Alaska that rely on the .357 with strong loads.

Phil Shoemaker, famous bear hunting guide in Alaska, once took down a charging Alaskan Brown Bear with a fricking 9mm! Google it, the encounter is quite well known. His daughter, another master guide, has carried .357s on her hunts.

Hope the couple makes it out okay.

She now lives with Jonas as a roommate and he makes sure that she is well taken care of. They decided on a long overdue vacation to Alaska which they both were excited about.

Love the Model 500. It’s probably the best gun for hunting big game

That is one of the dumbest things I have seen posted on TD... ever.

I dare you to go to the OB and post that line as the subject.

If you had used the noun "pistol" instead of gun at least you would have an argument.

I'd kill the bear and tell them they aren't getting shite.

That guy looks like a guy that was on death row in Texas, named Fratta. He was there for arranging a hit on his wife. I think he's been executed.

That’s what I meant when I said “gun” . I obviously meant pistols and not rifles. Come on dude

Exactly, the people on here don’t know what the hell they’re talking about. A .357 is a strong arse pistol that hits like a truck. Obviously not in the same league as the Model 500, but it can easily take down a grizzly

yah, sounds shady AF to me, but could be a bear. There's not shortage of meth in Alaska though-could wind up being a crazy story, especially with this tidbit on the FB page from ex wifey
quote:

I know Jonas very well. Probably better than anyone in his family. I’m his ex wife. I was called by a reporter today, and that is how I found out. He is not a “successful businessman”, he is pure evil. I am absolutely terrified for Cynthia.
I will be happy to answer questions and help in anyway I can.

I worked in Calgary one summer and I never did get used to the sun rising in the NNE and setting in the NNW way too late at night.

Glad they were seen and recognized by other hikers.
