Couldn't agree more. Love to sit on the porch and watch deer, wild turkeys, and foxes make their way through the back yard. Peace is interrupted when cows get out and have to be rounded up and the fence repaired but beef prices at the grocery store have convinced me that this is the way to go.

I've been watching a Doe and one of it's fawns for the last couple of days. They have been slipping out of the tree line in the back yard and grazing out back. I've started putting corn out for them just so I can keep watching them.

Squirrels have also been busy lately and my dogs are going nut chasing them all over the place. The weather has been beautiful the last 3 days since fall arrived and I've been enjoying my time outside with the dogs.

My place is “in between”. I am 30 minutes from Frisco, TX, and that is now extremely urban. Yet, my pic shows two fawns in the backyard!!

Hey Sarge have you ever thought about getting the Flame Boss kit for your egg? I bought one last year and is awesome, set and forget it.

I haven’t yet, I’m new to it. So you highly recommend it?

Absolutely, it’s a little pricey but the dam thing works like a charm. Buy one, you won’t regret it.

Best decision of my life was settling in a rural area. I’ve got mountains, rivers/creeks, hiking, hunting, no traffic, low crime, fresh air, low cost of living, less stress, towns are within 15-20 minutes, and a major metro is 90 minutes away.

My fiancée has a bunch of family here, and the county is 90% republican.

I’m never going back to a city

Sounds great, so long as there's no mosquito situation to ruin things.

I am extremely jealous of the ability to walk outside and plink. fricking hate having nowhere to shoot except the range. I just want to plink with my 22.

I’ve got a neighbor that daily throws table scraps off her deck for the grey foxes, when the foxes come to get it there’s a mockingbird that swoops down a terrorizes the heck out of them

Back in the late Winter or early Spring I was sitting on my back porch around 1:30AM. It was dead quiet and a cool night. Out of nowhere I heard what sounded like a short scream. Then, again a few seconds later. Then, again. It continued, a rhythmic scream and went on and on. It didn't sound like a Bobcat scream. I used the voice recorder on my phone to record it.

I didn't hear it for several days. Then, I was out late one evening just before sunset finishing off a fire I had burned that day. I heard it again. And again. I didn't know what it was, but thought it may be an owl. It didn't sound like a Screech Owl, really. I researched YouTube, but came up with nothing.

A while later, I let a friend listen to the recording. He said, "That's a Red Fox!" He said he had just seen an Outdoor Alabama video about the sounds they make. I looked it up, and sure as hell, it was a Red Fox.

Evidently, their population is starting to boom again in our area. Good to see, even if it is spooky to hear.

That’s awesome except the 4:30 am bullshite.

Made a lame effort for some snarky reply but could think of none, that’s just great.

Country life is good
I've got a little 33 acre piece of property in rural north Louisiana, once I get my kid out of high school and on with life I would love to build on it and retire in the country.

I recommend it highly!!

There’s a GD chart topper ripe for the picking right there. I’ve been very fortunate and had the opportunity to travel from the Caribbean to Europe, but I’m a simple man with simple tastes at the end of the day. A beautiful Missouri morning like today, we’re chilling with friends on the patio drinking beer & Bloody Mary’s watching the Mizzou game while pork steaks smoke over some applewood

Got the best of both worlds. Living in the “country” on acreage in Folsom, but I’m only
10-15 minutes from all the stores and restaurants. 10 minute walk to the creek to catch cottonmouths, 10 minute drive to eat at Chimes.
