As long as the candidate is truthful about his level of education it's not a necessarily a problem.
I think I remember hearing somewhere that you don't have to be a lawyer to be on the Supreme Court. It would probably never happen though.
Bottom line - don't try to lie about your education as you will be found out.

well just look at mad Maxine waters, cant even talk much less form rational train of thought to explain a position. highly doubt she knows more then the average 5th grader does.
a worthless diploma or token degree means nothing if you don't have to actually learn or know anything to get them

First guy off the top of my head, Clay Higgins. I checked his bio, it says he attended LSU, but no degree listed.

If you are looking for anything higher than Alderman, yes you will most certainly need a degree.
It's not the fact that you have one, but the experience that most often comes with it. You would be running against lawyers, doctors, and business men...That is unless you're from a rural district and can get away with a working man message.
ETA: in reference to those mentioning Walker and Graves, they both worked almost exclusively in the political realm from very early on. That's a different story.
What about Clay Higgins?

I don't believe Garrett Graves has a college degree.
ETA: I'm correct. Graves attended Louisiana Tech, American University & the University of Alabama and does not have a degree.

My dumbfrick ex-boss, I pray he see's this, became the mayor of the shite hole town in Mississippi that he's from. The town has maybe 350 residents and most are over the age of 50 probably. He barely has his degree in geology and failed his certification test for that 3 times. So anything is possible.
If you would take a trip through Louisiana and go meet mayors of small towns/villages, you would think your ex-boss is over-qualified.

If I make it that far, I will certainly try to keep going, but just getting elected as a representative would be pretty fricking nuts. If it's so easy, you should run.

Given the performance of the ivy leaguers in D.C. Maybe it is time to go in another direction.

He was in college and dropped out to pursue politics I believe, so its a bit different than say, Average Joe the Wendy's worker.
Thing is you have to be pretty much college capable mentally to pursue that type of deal on a high level, but the American electorate can always surprise.
Only one semester short.
Not sure why he wouldn't go back and finish. Just to remove the talking point.

Yes, do you think most of our politicians are educated?
