No doubt

But warfare has changed and will continue to do so.

Those mountains in east Afghanistan were no joke

I think this is a pretty shortsighted was to look at it.

Do you think people in 1930 Europe said “yea we could do a world war, we don’t really have anything worth losing”?

Yes I understand that medical technology has greatly improved . So has the military’s ability to inflict harm on its advisories. I don’t care how quick or how good the medical care is if you screw with the wrong army you aren’t making it to the medical tent.

Prime example the Russians that got a little to close to the Americans in Syria a couple of months ago

It all depends on the cause.

That’s why there’s at least 1-2 medics with every line platoon to give them quick care while your pl calls up a 9 line medevac

Although the best medicine sometimes is to return fire

I was a combat medic

When I mean line I’m talking about infantry cav etc. special forces and rangers have their own medics that have received additional training

Marines have navy corpsmen

No.

If total war were to happen, half of the country would actively hope we lost.

And which half would depend solely on which political party the President at the time belongs to.

Liberals would support a total war by opening the borders, tearing down statues, blocking interstates, and creating hashtag campaigns against fascism.

It worked in the great Kony war of 2012.

What?

You are literally falling for the biggest misconception that plagues every generation. That we are somehow special or different from other generations. Take a step back and realize nothing has changed. We are still animals capable of atrocities. It doesn’t take much hardship to make us revert to our most basic human natures.

PEARL HARBOR HAWAII, DEC 7 (Special to the New York Times) - Democrats feared a rise in anti-Japanese incidents in reaction to Japan's pre-emptive defensive actions today, and urged Americans to remember that not all Japanese soldiers are violent.

Some racist incidents by whites have already been reported, including mass shootings of Japanese pilots.

I’m not saying it’s wrong, but every generation says this.

Do you have an example of a generation that said the opposite?

The question is could America handle losing a war, militarily speaking, without using a nuclear weapon?

It depends entirely on who we are fighting, why we are fighting, where we are fighting, and whether the people back home legitimately feel threatened in their daily lives by whom we are fighting..

I have a strong feeling the next "total war" will go something along these lines, a mix of cyber warfare and tactical strikes.

First, knock out the financial grid. Shortly after that you take out the utilities (power, water). Then while keeping their military forces occupied, you wait as the country tears itself apart over the few resources left. After a month or two of that there would be pretty much nothing left of that country to take over.

If the USA were to be suddenly over run, we would use lots of nukes. If the USA were to be slowly ceded to the third world over a century, we would go quietly into that good night.
