WWI had been going on for 2-1/2 years before a America declared war. Like you said, many Americans preferred to stay out of the war. Many Americans didn't want anything to do with WWII either. If the Japs hadn't bombed Pearl Harbor and Hitler declaring war on us, who knows what would have happened.

Hell, on the topic of wars the American public didn't want to be involved in, the American Revolution could fall into that category. Only about a 1/3 of Americans wanted to revolt against the British and they were mostly in MA. About 1/3 supported the Crown and the other 1/3 just wanted to ploughing their fields and be left allow.

Which would be super ironic since one of the liberals major, recurring gripes about trump is that he’s a draft dodger. Which wasn’t a problem for them with bill Clinton. But hey...who cares about consistency.

These Pussies now think there’s 120 sexes and can’t throw a gernade far enough to pass training. They’d be on social media talking about being triggered and their feelings more than fighting

Political war.....the tolerance will be low although the media would support it if a Democrat was in office at the time.

A real threat on America or close allies would be a different story. A lot of people would volunteer, as we saw after 9/11.

Those types tend to be loud, but most millennials aren't anything like that.

We're now offended by statues. That should answer your question.

Jesus, the amount old guys spitting ridiculous hyperbole in this thread...

Simply put, every older generation thinks the youngins are pussies.

I have no doubt that the timeless American tradition of rising to the occasion whenever our country gets it's nose bloodied is alive and well.

Yes. It really leaves you no choice. I'm sure if you had asked pre-WWI or WWII France or England whether they could have handled total war and the answer would have been no.

This country united together for war after 9/11.

You people have short memories. If someone attacked us, we would unite again.

These are the same people who say "Kids these days are a buncha snow flakes!!!" in the face of 18-20 year olds pulling multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. It's a leftover mindset from the POS boomers.

How many countries realistically have an army that could stand against US? China, Russia, and?

Agreed. In terms of handling a total war, it wouldn't be the actual fighting age people that I'd be worried about. They don't have a choice so it's actually easier for them emotionally in some ways. I would be more worried about their parents on the home front who would be living under constant threat of cyber attack or worse while also worried sick about their kids.
