Don’t worry guys the NBR economic development district is on it.
The NBR Economic Development district, BRAF, and BRAC has got plans to turn it into a money making Mecca for them by conducting studies on what to do with this dinosaur.

Best Mall TV Commercial Ever?
It's certainly nice here in the cave

Let me give you a run down of the Baton Rouge locust shopping in my lifetime.
First, as a child, it was Third Street and Goudchaux‘s on Main Street which was the place to be on weekends for shopping.
Then, it was Bon Marche Mall, and 3rd Street eventually became a transvestite hangout. Goudchaux’s became Maison Blanche when it was bought out, and then Diggin Dillards, and now, a government building.
Then, it was Cortana, and Bon Marche was eventually abandoned, only to eventually be take up by office space many years later.
Then it was Mall of Louisiana, and Cortana became a wasteland and place to get shot.
What’s next when the Mall of Louisiana goes by the wayside? Do we go back to Third Street and start it all over again?
Maybe we should just start using tents instead. That way, we can relocate much easier. Like a traveling circus mall.

f it's a commercial for bulletproof vests, drugs, and prostitutes, then yes
This is why it shouldn’t shut down. Keep it open and hope it attracts more of this element. It’ll keep them away from those of us that don’t live that lifestyle.

Just turn the mall into a giant paint ball arena and I’ll be there every other weekend

It seems like traditional malls are being abandoned for the Perkins Rowe/Towne Center type of development. I don't think they'll go away completely but I don't see BR supporting 2 malls again.

I think that was made with PowerPoint 98.

Maybe if they’d have a cover charge.

I think once Mall of LA loses its appeal itll be boutique malls and outlet malls. I really dont see Mall of LA turning into a Cortana-esque wasteland though.

Nobody saw the others doing that either. Cortana was surrounded by higher end neighborhoods at the time in Villa Del Ray, Broadmoor, and Sherwood Forrest, all of which were the places to be back in the day. It happened to all of them. Hell, even Mall City was the place to live at one point In time, and businesses were bustling all up and down Florida Blvd back then. Nobody foresaw what would become of it all then.
I will say though that I agree with the assessment that we are moving to smaller boutique shopping, and it is much more enjoyable to be honest with you.

I had friends that lived in Glen Oaks in the 80s-early 90s. Airline near Greenwell Springs was a good area. It's amazing how many places have turned to shite.

I did as well. Hell, I was dating girls off Hollywood Street back then.

I grew up in Central off of Hooper and we used to go to Plank Rd all the time when I was a kid due to proximity. It looks like a 3rd world country in spots now.

This was about 3 or 4 years ago, but my mom told me that she went to Dillards at the Mall of Louisiana and something she wanted to buy.. there was only one left and not in her size and the lady told her that they probably had them at the Dillards in Cortana mall. She went there and she said ALL of the clothes there were big sizes.. And she asked one of the workers "why are all of yall sizes bigger sizes?" and the woman said "ma'am, we have to cater to our clientele".

Back when you could venture to Krispy Creme, Plank Bowling, or catch a movie at the RE Lee at night and not take your life in your own hands.
