No they wouldn't.

They would be in the pits so often.

NASCAR teams would lap them dozens of times.

If we're talking about a race then there's no way a supercar could hang with NASCAR cars, most of them drain their tanks in under 20 mins if run flat out.

If we're talking mechanically only, yes they could do it easily. See my previous post.

"be in the pits" for what? NASCAR engines are built to the limit to make 8-900hp. These 1000hp+ supercars with more down force and lighter weight wouldn't even have to run as hard. But if they did, the engines/engineering are more than capable of going race distance.

ETA: for the sake of discussion, with equal tires I think the supercars kill a NASCAR on a road course, but oval would be closer. Would also depend on what kind of "setup" /suspension tuning you could do to the supercars to stiffen them up for oval/high bank racing.

The supercars would eat up tires much more quickly than purpose-built race cars. They would also have to stop for fuel all the time. It would also require more lengthy pit stops than NASCAR teams pump out.

I'm not saying a supercar couldn't go the distance, it clearly would, but in the same race against a NASCAR field, the actual race cars would eat the supercars alive.

Ford GT40 won the 24 hour Le Mans back in the 60's. The new ones are light years ahead of those, so yes, a modern supercar would easily complete a 500 mile Nascar oval race.

Not a chance. Lighter weight, traction control, and equivalent tires mean they'd last longer, not shorter.

Only if equipped with a dry-sump oiling system. Any car with a regular oiling system would eventually blow up because of the centrifugal force of going in circles pushes the oil to one side of the pan and makes it difficult for a traditional oil pick up tube to provide a sufficient amount of oil. A dry sump system has little to no oil in the pan and the oil is delivered by a external oil pump from a reservoir to properly oil engine components. The pump on a dry sump system scavenges oil from the pan as fast as it’s delivered to create vacuum. A dry sump system makes more horsepower than a conventional wet sump because the crankshaft doesn’t have the extra drag of having to turn in oil.

Maintenance/rebuild intervals would change drastically from street miles to track miles, but they could finish races without issue.

Ford GT has a dry sump pump!

You could have bought one new in 2005, for about $100K. Look up the values of the same car now.

Modern supercars have dry sump systems, even the lower end ones like the Z06.

They'd have to refuel too often to be competitive

Aren't these the ones that can't do more than a handful of laps before going into limp mode because shitty GM didn't give it proper cooling?

I assumed for discussion we weren't letting fuel be the limiting factor. Larger fuel cells are easy enough to add.....

And would easily negate whatever weight advantages it has.

All three mentioned (Aventador or Bugatti Chiron or LaFerrari) use dry sump oil systems

I can only imagine. Couldn’t afford one then, and damn sure can’t afford one now!
I have seen many people destroy engines at Talladega trying to run their personal cars up on the banking for more than 2-3 laps. At over about 170 mph valve cores will start to compress inside valve stems because of centrifugal force and will allow air to be released from tires. 120-130 mph is one thing, but when you start talking 180-200 mph there’s a huge difference. The pressure inside a car alone can explode regular windows if they’re not properly vented.

You don't think an Aventador can run wide open on its 22 gallon tank for the same distance a cup car can with its 17.75 gallons?

I don't even know the fuel capacity of the NASCAR rules, but an extra 10-20 gallons of fuel, EVEN IF it was needed isn't going to eat up the weight advantage. Some of the supercars are 1000lb lighter than a NASCAR.

An Aventador would run through it's entire tank in something like 16-18 minutes if run wide open, or even in the 180mph range.

Check the differences in cylinders, displacement (liters), and RPMs and you'll find your answers.
