The media has hyped this so much that people are being irrational and flooding rescue services instead of thinking logically and being calm.
Don’t know the numbers in NYC, but everywhere else, the confirmed positive of those tested is around 10%.... So of those 6k calls, if they were all Corona related, only 600 would legitimate and even then, 98% of those are going to live.

Speaking of, I’m chatting with a friend who lives in GZ. They are pissed at the govt for blocking foreigners.
They say its bs that China can spread it to the world with their peeps and then turn around and attempt to block those with visas to come into the country.

Unfortunately I think google is pulling the metro area or something else for that number.
NYC's government site lists the 2019 population at 8.34 million.

Where I live, ER visits are way down, same with people going to the urgent care. Unless they are really sick, they are staying home.

Upper Midwest, people seem to be taking this thing seriously so far which is good. Outside of the ICU, the hospital has been kind of slow. My sister works at Mayo and has told me it is similar there.

In any case, the U.S as a whole is in for some dark days coming up. Hoping we can come out on the other side of this thing with as minimal death as possible.
The same guy who published the Imperial College London model that so many here loved to throw around as proof of how bad this is just released a revision.
In the revision, his predicted death total for the UK was 20k. That may sound bad, but the original model had it at 500k. That’s a drop of 96%.
Stop letting the lemmings here and the news freak you out.

You just called the Spanish flu the Spanish flu.
It's kind of hard to change the name of something after a hundred years and billions of people have called it that. And this is a prime fricking example of the problem here... Spain still hates that it is called the Spanish flu. The stigma has lasted a century. And the worst part is it didn't even start in Spain, nor were they particularly hard hit by it. It's just that during the war, Spain was neutral so their press was free to report on it. The warring nations were censoring themselves.
