Wish we could know how many of those are needing ICU care, but I don't think we have data for that.

Not so far as I can tell. My son had a little cough before I ever did. Like a week before. Barely noticeable and only really in the mornings. We are checking everyone’s temp about 5 times a day. My wife isn’t showing signs of anything.

That number is line with the data from Italy/China.

It makes sense. They've managed it piss poorly and the living conditions are the most similar.

Don't think anyone has reservations about shut down measure in areas like that. But the rest of the country?

There's currently a twitter war between UK and UT about measure taken. Sure UK did a better job and has way less cases. But they have no BNA, no concerts, no broadway etc etc.

If you removed Davidson County from the numbers and insert UKs worst county, they numbers are almost equal.

Look at our mortality rates with infants specifically. We are driven by money not by altruism.

Other countries specifically those in Europe consider infants born younger than 22 months or under 500g to not be a person and a still birth. Despite being alive. In the US we care for those in a NICU and attempt to send them home to live their life and we reflect that they are human in the data and count them as deaths when they die. So who are the evil ones driven by profit and stature and who are the altruistic ones?

More info from this LINK

They show 23,203 positive tests out of 179,220 being administered. That gives us a positive rate of 12.94%.

I don't really know if that's a good or bad number, I'm not a virologist or anything, just looking at numbers.

Those numbers are sobering. I am not sure that we are prepared as a nation for what this means.

You've been doom and gloom this whole thread. What makes you say this? Any facts?

There's a shite ton of cases? Everyone already knew that. The first case here was January 21st, its been spreading for 2 months free and wild.

People aren't dropping dead in the streets or hospitals.

Washington needs to be paid close attention to.

Numbers there look much more like the Diamond Princess than Italy and even the rest of Europe.

Still only at 74 deaths and it's been there since January 21st.

Too me that literally means nothing with out any context behind who is being tested, where, etc.

Honestly a 12% transmission rate ( I realize that isn't the rate but when you talk about test vs positives) its semi relevant.

When you think that vast majority of those people have or should have had symptoms, and only 12% actually are testing positive, it doesn't feel like a dire contagion.

It's over 1/2 the rate of the Diamond Princess and that is an environment in itself much different than majority of America.

Yeah, the numbers there seem promising.

Maybe not now, but read this article. Doesn’t sound like a cold or flu for these young patients. What happens when the virus continues to spread and there aren’t enough ventilators?

It's literally "been here" for 2 months and we haven't done shite until a week ago.

Why is our curve so much different than Italy's?

There's other things involved.

It's likely going to be bad in NYC and some of the coastal areas but Washington is proving otherwise right now.

We just simply don't have that many beds and respirators anywhere from a per capita standpoint so its going to seem a shite ton worse.

For example, Illinois has 1400 total ventilators. 347 available.

Yes it would be a nightmare if all of those get occupied but its still a tiny arse number in the grand scheme of things.

It seems SUPER BAD that "we're out of beds and ventilators" but of course it is when a larger state like Illinois only has 1400 in the whole state.

What about the ones that are not?

A lot of these people that are downplaying the frick out of this, should at least volunteer their time to the hospitals. Or even apply for some sort of job to help since this isn’t serious.

Or at least have a loved one be around the infected parties. Why not? It’s no big deal, right ?

This site has hospitalizations at 1,964. Not sure how reliable their data is, and it looks like some states aren't reporting hospitalizations, but it gives us a little idea.

It’s not. And some? Try most, including most of the hardest hit states.

According to it, 85% of all hospitalization are in NY.
