K. Keep us posted. Or not. Whatever.

Since when has accuracy ever been the threshold for posting on here?

If current percentages are a good indicator, we could expect roughly 149 positives from that.
Current percentages are based on LDH testing criteria, which means that patients basically need hospitalization. These testing criteria are much, much lower -- basically, just that a doctor ordered the test. I'd personally put the betting line at 45.

You can't come here and say that without giving details. Either you're comfortable enough with bringing it up to us or you're not. You can't have it both ways.

Ahh, I didn't know that. Yea, 40ish seems right then, given that info.

but the case fatality rate of the Spanish Flu was 2.5%.
Also...this mathematically doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Of the 500 million people worldwide who were infected by the Spanish Flu, between 50-100 million people died. That's a mortality rate of 13-20 percent. The only way the figure of 2.5% makes any sense is if you take into account the worldwide population of 1918-20 (1.8 billion) and divide that by the 500 million infected. Only then do you get a percentage anywhere close to the one cited in the link you posted.

Correct. LDH testing criteria was "Did you travel to Wuhan?" "Are you currently dying of Pneumonia?" Then we will test you.
You are gonna have a pretty high positive rate then.

Hearing a good possibility that schools are done for the 2019-20 school year. Was talking to an Orleans Parish teacher today and she told me this. I didn’t believe her so I called my sister who teaches at a public school in St Tammany and she told me the same. Didn’t believe her so I texted my other sister who is also a teacher in St Tammany and she confirmed. Wife also has spoken to a few teachers who are saying the same.

You talking school or calendar year?
Is this really that surprising if the former?

That seems highly realistic to me. There's no way the "risk" of having kids in school is going to be diminished between now and end of May. If it's not considered safe now, it won't be mid April either, and if you push it any more it's pretty much end of year anyway

Damn it. 2019-20 school year

My wife is a teacher. We live in GA.
They are "learn remotely" or whatever they are calling it until at least April 3rd. Then the next week is Spring break. So they wont be in class again until at least 4/13. If this isnt gone by First of april i have no doubt school gets cancelled.

I think the friends of friends of teachers are the most prone to facebook rumor.
Not saying it isn't true, but the rumors from teachers and nurses in this parish have been 0 for 23 so far.

Yeah my brother is a teacher and has said as far as they know, the expected return date is in late April. They're still playing it by ear for extending that, but that's all that's been announced to them so far.
ETA: also saying that any work they assign remotely has to technically be optional, because it could start a fuss if someone without internet access, the proper hardware/software, etc. couldn't complete the work and got failed for it.
