So much for my bike ride. Spent half of it standing on the side of the road talking to someone from the hospital. So glad I give up call tomorrow. I'm dreaming about COVID-19 now (seriously)
Stop reading about it.

Devote no more than 1 hour a day to it.

You will miss zero critical information and threads like this offer zero useable information.

If you want to stay sane, pick up a hobby.

Work and your 1 hour info dive will update you if there happens to be anything remotely important on a daily basis.

They are meeting right now to determine if they are going to mandate nurses report that aren’t scheduled. Our ED is now full again and the triaging we did seems to have made room only for today’s admits. Wtf? 8 more positives at out facility today....I bet you can’t wait to pass that call to someone else.

Scruffy...

I'm the on call infection control nurse at my hospital (which comprises of the main hospital plus multiple clinics as well as numerous inpatient behavioral health centers)this weekend. Providers and staff have been instructed to call me with all COVID-19 concerns.

When I'm at work I'm literally doing nothing but COVID-19 stuff all day now.

Whether I like it or not...COVID-19 is gonna be my life the next few weeks/months/etc.

US has 3x the critical care beds per capita.

I agree with the rest of your numbers but the above stat is a little misleading if it doesnt indicate available icu beds.

What is the occupancy rate for Italy vs US?

There are certain posters that I look for when reading info.

You. Jenn (just out of curiosity as she’s front line). The wawa guy. Rds the regular weather guru. And a few others.

Nurse that’s why I asked — if they keep saying we need to test to get accurate stats it was in a way a sensible question.

Hope calls tonight are limited for you!

AZ seems to be not a hotspot at the moment. I think we still only have 12 pres positive for the whole state.

So it's the calm before the storm for us. Most of my calls today were from frantic staff trying to see if they need to stay home because their kid came back from Europe or they found out someone at a conference they were at just tested positive. Someone in behavioral health freaking out because a patient that has been there like 3 weeks now has a cough(hello...there are other things that cause a cough..calm down).

Which...really is for the Employee Health person(the staff questions)...but at least I have her personal cell number on speed dial. Me and her have chatted a good bit today.

Some of these people I just want to tell them to CTFO but obviously I cannot do that

(CTFO=Chill the frick Out)

Oh I totally understand where you are coming from.

I just don't think it's that feasible without overwhelming places that are testing right now.

For my state(at least what I was told Friday...things change hourly it seems)...commercial testing still has to be collected by a provider and then sent to the commercial lab. You can't just hand a slip to a patient and have them go to a Labcorp location to get tested.

. The ERs and clinics and urgent cares are already gonna be FLOODED with people that actually are sick.

This is why the drive-thru testing stations are important.

Congrats on not being at the bedside. The last time we touched base you still were working with kids. Happy to hear you have moved up.

Dow futures down 850. Looks like Friday's rally was a dead cat bounce.
