Yep. Times like these reveal true colors. The granola organic bros are wiping out the Clorox wipe supplies. The fascists are trying to creep in on our rights under the guise of safety.

I am probably as far from a totalitarian as one can be.
I'm just saying that the constitution is not perfect, and neither is anything else. But that doesn't mean we can't try to make it closer to perfect. And believing that it already is perfect blinds us to the possibility that we could make it better.

How many of you had coronavirus symptoms from October to now?
Completely anecdotal.
But how many of you have had friends, family, or yourselves that had coronavirus type symptoms but tested negative for flu?
Seems like a bunch of people have had negative flu swabs but had flu-like symptoms.

What does that have to do with anything. Anyway, I'm here to tell you that, yes, the government can, in fact, shut down commercial venues and restrict gatherings for neutral reasons. Churches? Trickier issue but you see a lot of the larger churches voluntarily suspending services or doing them via internet. Why? Because they're exercising a little common sense during a serious health crises rather than fuming at their keyboard about minor inconveniences.
As far as the leftist comment, you realize most of this stuff is being done at the tacit approval of Trump, right? You realize the governor of Florida, who is basically a Trump clone, is asking for a lock down of his state. Big time leftists there...

I hate to rehash something being said at least once a day at this point, but every couple hours I sit back in amazement that this is the virus that is shutting down the entire world.

Spoke with several senior members of government in both parties and also some medial public health first responders and while they not say to be vigilant and measured and sanitize and all that we’ve been told, they also say that if it’s true that China knew of CoronaVirus in early November, the likelihood that it has already run through parts of this country is massive. Meaning we are way past testing and mitigation. It also means we may...may...have moved through it in parts of the U.S.
Again..this is very cautious optimism. The first responders I spoke with and several doctors say that flu was rough this winter and many people with very similar symptoms to Covid were sent home to recover. Did they already have it? Has it already been thru here?
Thus the rough flu season we’ve experienced already. These are all questions we will know answers to soon enough. I suggest to my colleagues in the media, these are the questions and investigations we should be doing/asking. Politics aside for a couple of weeks. Try it.

You're acting like the government is going door-to-door seizing weapons and locking people in containment centers. I don't see a problem with the government shutting downs bars and shite for a two week period, no. And since you're so obsessed with the economic perspective, tell me... how's Italy's economy looking right now? The deaths are largely irrelevant from that perspective. If the infection rate soars because people just absolutely HAVE to fricking go to the Cat's Meow to get wasted and sing badly the virus will continue to linger and continue to have a negative impact on retailers.
Or we can just attempt to contain the spread now for a few weeks to potentially avoid a months-long quagmire.

This is what was talked about in the politics thread. A lot of anecdotes from people the had the "flu" this season. From my personal experience, I have quite a few that had whatever it was.
