- Only applies to business under 500 employees (I still don't understand that. Maybe that just applies to the tax credit, but the summary didn't specify that.)

It’s because of the whole class warfare theme of the past few years. Attitude is that businesses with over 500 employees should be able to eat the costs.

I wonder if things like mortgage deferrals will be a thing (pushing back the term x months).

I heard water cooler talk of it being discussed, no idea of the veracity.

To be fair there’s talk of money for small businesses. I’m just hoping that they truly mean small businesses because small business is a pretty broad definition.

I'm afraid this is just going to keep being prolonged. Tell me an end date and I'm good.

Just found this. I think it is the opposite of that which was the confusing part. I couldn't believe the Dems signed off on it.
quote:

The legislation will provide, according to Pelosi, "paid emergency leave with two weeks of paid sick leave and up to three months of paid family and medical leave." It will also expand federal funding for Medicaid "to support our local, state, tribal and territorial governments and health systems, so that they have the resources necessary to combat this crisis."
The bill has an exemption for businesses with 500 employees or more. The compromise was a necessary one, a Democratic source familiar with the negotiations told CNN's Jake Tapper.
"Democrats preferred to have something rather than nothing. That was the choice we faced,"the source said. "Republicans didn't support the mandate nor did they support leave for everyone. It was a clear nonstarter for them. Secretary Mnuchin and Republicans refused to consider any leave policies whatsoever without a cap.

It says I’ll get a tax credit if I’m hit with this as a small business but I’d have to survive to get the tax credit. Survive as a business.

They can’t and we need those employers to be in business & paying those employees when this is over.
