At that point, what will be the problem then? I guess I'm one of those who doesn't understand.

As much as we have learned about China and ourselves during all of this, now China knows they can release a bioweapon that doesn’t have to be much worse than this to shut down our economy, schools, and our country.

People want to believe this is a just world, but there are evil people out there who are able to design such bioweapons through reverse transcriptases that can cause real damage. As someone in another thread noted, China has a target population, and they wouldn’t mind if a few people got wiped out. Coronavirus is child’s play compared to what can be made. The fact that no news is even considering the possibility this can be a bioweapon or a test from China makes me believe more that it is. The higher ups are panicking enough for me to believe so, and I’m just asking others to consider that this may be true and to not be in denial.

And, no, I don’t believe this came from a pangolin at all.

Quite the contrary. I’m going to continue to live my life as normally as possible. I’m going to eat out and go out. I’m not giving into the mass hysteria.

There are many people here and everywhere that don’t understand why things are being cancelled. They are legitimately pissed off. You think these people are going to be ok with a quarantine if it comes to that?

So why the quip about the virus not coming from an animal... obviously insinuating it is man made.

What? I know here, local "journalists" are combing our local clinics and hospitals looking for someone to spill those kind of beans. Those overruns are just not happening.

Shut up. You know damn well if there was an article written about the situation you’d call it fake.

I’m not saying they are. I’m saying that journalists definitely aren’t combing the ICUs and they don’t know who has undiagnosed viral pneumonia.

I don’t think anything is close to being overrun but I wouldn’t be surprised if in certain areas like jenn is describing they are already close to the standard maximum ICU capacity (there is always room for spillover)

I always do my Walmart shopping at 4:00 am on Saturdays. I am not exaggerating when I say that the Attalla Walmart is almost out of food. It was eerie in there seeing so many empty shelves. No toilet paper, no paper towels, no lysol or Clorox products, no rice, no beans, no bread or milk and no ramen etc. Dr pepper and coke products empty. Surprisingly they had plenty of water. I still have enough food for a few days but I hope they have the shelves restocked when I go back. I only have enough milk to make cornbread twice and that's only if the kids don't eat cereal. I also got a phone call from the school saying school had been canceled till April 6th. It' s happening I guess. I am only mildly concerned about catching the virus but now I definitely worry about feeding my family thanks to people freaking out and stocking their shelves with a months worth of food.

I’ve been researching the effects of vitamin D on upper respiratory tract infections. There is good data to suggest that it helps the immune system fight viral respiratory tract infections.

Disclaimer: I don’t really believe in supplements or vitamins in most cases so this isnt coming from a essential oil wacko

The British Medical Journal

quote:

25 eligible randomised controlled trials (total 11?321 participants, aged 0 to 95 years) were identified. IPD were obtained for 10?933 (96.6%) participants. Vitamin D supplementation reduced the risk of acute respiratory tract infection among all participants

Among those receiving daily or weekly vitamin D, protective effects were stronger in those with baseline 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels <25 nmol/L (patients who are vitamin D deficient)

We know that the elderly are much more likely to be Vitmain D deficient. Could this play a role in this disease?

I’ll be looking into the data further today

Personal recommendation is to "Keep calm and carry on", but for a little while keep some distance from your older or elderly relatives.

I guess we won't know for sure until it shakes out, but I wish the authorities would have just done this instead of shutting everything down.

My doctor put me on vitamin D years ago. Said he has his entire family on it. He said that you can safely take as much as you'd like as well. We all got influenza b last year and it kicked the asses of the wife and kids but I handled it like a boss and I think those vitamins are the reason for it.
