Why toilet paper?

No clue. I went to Sams on Wednesday and stocked up on some canned goods. While I was doing that people were scrambling to buy those huge toilet paper packs.

The doctors found a drop of 20% to 30% in lung capacity in two or three out of those 12 patients.

Is it two or three? If you can't get that detail right in such a small sample, why should I trust anything else you say?

*"you" obviously refers to the Hong Kong docs, not you .

The mob mentality is bad, but I'm not quite sure how the average citizen is supposed to pull themselves by their bootstraps and solve a pandemic. I don't think it's too NEW WORLD ORDERish to expect the government perform some function on that end.

Yeah, pandemic prevention/mitigation is absolutely a function of government. Citizens can only really do the obvious - cleanliness and social isolation. That can go a long way, but you will always have knuckleheads downplaying it and not listening to the recommendations.

You’re probably mixing up mortality rates with case fatality rates

So you assert that no one was buying TP in bulk when the first reports happened?

I assert that there wasn't a shortage in my area until people were told there was. At least where I live.

It’s been awhile since I took a math class but I’m pretty sure the number you’re looking for is more like 6.7%

Lol

Mortality rate is based on total pop

Fatality rates are based on deaths from no of those with the disease

People who recover can be left with substantially impaired lung function
This is the shite that scares people and exacerbates this.

How many people are they talking about here?

Let’s take a look.

quote:

Out of 12 people in the group, two to three saw changes in their lung capacity.

Well, isn’t that just amazing.

Statements based on an N of 12.

Oh, and out of that 12, 2-3 showed changes.

fricking irresponsible media.

Interesting article of tp hoarding imo LINK

quote:

“Stocking up on toilet paper is … a relatively cheap action, and people like to think that they are ‘doing something’ when they feel at risk.” This is an example of “zero risk bias,” in which people prefer to try to eliminate one type of possibly superficial risk entirely rather than do something that would reduce their total risk by a greater amount. Hoarding also makes people feel secure. This is especially relevant when the world is faced with a novel disease over which all of us have little or no control. However, we can control things like having enough toilet paper in case we are quarantined.

LoL. I mean we might. Again no one will ever know how widespread this thing actually is bc of the asymptomatic and mild symptoms. But I doubt we ever hit 45,000 confirmed positives throughout the entire course of this thing

Unless that’s 150,100 cases and not 15,100?

6.7% would be the case fatality rate
