Scruffy
Does it make you want to kick people in the testicles that RSV kills 60k of your patient population annually worldwide and nobody makes a push to stop social gatherings at any level, but this madness is causing the wheels of commerce to screech to a halt?

RSV is third world and you know it. The scary thing about this is it’s ravaging one of the most developed areas of the world in Milan

Don’t compare US flu deaths with worldwide RSV stats. 99% of the RSV deaths of children are in developing countries of you want to continue beyond just a google top search.

Also where does it say 50,000 American flue deaths?
How about just not post bull shite anymore.

Yea, very few US children die from RSV yearly, around 100 or so.
Scruffy just found out that 14,000 US adults are killed by RSV yearly though.
That is a shitload of people.

just saw a doctor from John's Hopkins say the US will soon be having 1,000 deaths a day from this thing.
But there's no fearmongering going on...
Idk. The mortality rate of this thing just doesn't seem to warrant all of this. But actual doctors spouting off shite like that will certainly cause panic.

1-3% of those will be under the age of 5, 100-500 annually
If that’s not enough for you to even care about it, so much as for you to say it’s just third world, you must not have batted an eye at this covid-19 right....
Or maybe, just maybe, you don’t pay attention to deaths normally so you have never noticed.....

Apples and oranges, one country is able to completely shut down the country the other can't come close to those extreme measures
If we didn’t do anything, maybe... But EVERY thing is shutting down early enough to slow this drastically.

Huh? I have a 5 yr old and a 7 yr old. I live in the US. Both of my kids had RSV before they were 2. My daughter was 7 months old. shite was very, very scary.

These people are perfectly proving my point. They simply don’t notice every day deaths. That’s why this thing causes panic. People simply start to focus on the fact in a nation of 330 million people, deaths happen all the time
And yes, RSV is terrifying it. One of mine got it at 3 months old. Almost got touch and go
But again, not enough for OT posters to give up their festivals

I had RSV in 1990
Definitely not third-world

If you go around calling this COVID-19 you're an a-hole

Very much not third world, but we can medically manage it well.
So people need to hear that. And they need to digest it.

If all these psycho virtue signalers really cared, theY would have been melting over all the other diseases we spread through travel and social contact. Why are they screaming now? Because they’re easily manipulated.
This is dumb. We've created vaccines for most and have decades-long immunities built up by this point. This is a NOVEL virus strain, aka NEW. If the common flu viruses were new starting this December we'd be doing the same.
If you could go back and limit social gatherings for a few weeks and close some businesses and schools to eradicate the flu before it becomes an annual epidemic, you absolutely do that.
What we're doing now could potentially be stopping another epidemic in it's tracks that would only ADD ON to the already deadly flu season that keeps hospitals busy enough. That's worth the slight inconvenience you face from not being able to watch sports on TV for a few weeks or go to a St. Patrick's day parade.
These minor inconveniences are worth potentially saving thousands of lives even if this doesn't become annual and only occurs this "season." It's damn sure worth keeping our hospitals and health care workers from being overrun in the short term.
Why does this continually have to be explained to the same 2-3 dense posters over and over? shite.

I think they are trying to prevent an endemic.

If during the winter, you cancelled all social gatherings and school, would you not agree it would lower fli deaths and hospitalizations? Simple question
