I think he should have insisted we accept the WHO tests until the CDC could make and test their own. However, I’m not sure it’s the best call for a non-medical person to override the CDC on that.
As far as making the tests and having them be accurate, I’m not sure he’s qualified to do that. He can certainly throw his weight and resources around to help them do these things but he can’t make the tests himself.
He's the smartest man alive. Dr's have marveled at his knowledge and have asked how he knows so much about it. Overriding the CDC is something that would come natural to him. He's the C. Everett Koop of the 2020's.

we are using private labs because ADPH still wont let us test.
The CDC has already updated their guidelines beyond just those who traveled, but states are not changing.

Any good CV podcasts? Been listening to This Week In Virology. Really enjoyed Rogen having Osterholm in.
Any other suggestions?

It's possibly more than that.

Like I said, you can criticize trump for the way he has talked about the virus, but this idea that he has any meaningful control over the cdc testing production is absurd.
It’s comical to think Donnie T could just call up the cdc, demand more test production, and abracadabra more will be produced.
This is literally the cdc’s job. They don’t and shouldn’t require approval or guidance from a president who is not an expert in the field. THEY are the experts and are entrusted with big responsibilities.
The only people blaming him are the loonies who have charged him with one ridiculous crime after another and low information, low IQ people who might actually believe any president should tell the CDC what to do in a time like this.

The r/covid19 thread used to have very informed people sharing latest info. Haven’t had time to check in the past 2 weeks.

Well, they made up even more numbers
“Acton just concluded the press conference by saying the worst case scenario is 40-70% of Ohioans (4.7-8.2 million) may end up carrying the virus.
Ohio has banned all mass gatherings of 100+ people. “

r/coronavirus is a cesspit of media fear porn.

That’s just... irresponsible... unless they have some large population that’s spread it amongst themselves unchecked. If those numbers are correct, then we are doomed.

That’s the type of crap that spreads panic unnecessarily. Screaming fire in a crowded theater.

You’re correct. That’s the board I meant to reference. Will go edit my post so people don’t go to the wrong thread.

That number is suspiciously high. If that’s the case, we likely all have it.

Lol. What? I clearly stated a couple pages back that I cringed when he went on tv saying this was under control. Clearly there wasn’t enough data yet for that assertion.
But the CDC refusing to use WHO text kits then bungling their own led to a mass shortage that we still haven’t completed corrected and would have helped us stay in front of this like S Korea did.
But you go ahead and stay ignorantly focused on blaming Trump when the reason we haven’t tested more people is due to the CDC test creation delay and rolling out tests that don’t work.
Like it or not when something like is completely bungled the man in charge is blamed. This was bungled. If it isn't Trump's fault then he needs to step in and correct it. He speech did nothing to fix it. It was a bad speech. His original speeches were bad.
The entire thing was/is bad and the man at the top gets the blame. How it has always been and always will be.

So Merkel, the chancellor of Germany, said the same number a couple of days ago. However, there was a qualifier in the article that many didn't see

Agree or disagree, Ohio is 100% no longer living close to the American way
For all intents, Ohio has banned practicing religion to start
