And people in here are calling it out. Sorry about your Sox game. I’m waiting for USTA to cancel our entire season and playoffs and I’ll be stuck in a house with a hormonal 13 year old boy homeschooling with no outlet.

don't think these are two separate things, but the main idea is essentially the latter. If there are X amount of hospital beds in the US and the total amount of infected is 3X, you'll have an overrun system if they're sick all at the same time. If that 3X is spread over a longer period of time, each bed can be used multiple times so they're never all needed at the exact same time.

This thread approves.
Several posters immediately said those numbers were ridiculous.

I actually feel bad for the kids missing out on once in a lifetime events. Looks like no prom for my daughter and no college graduation for my son.

An acquaintance’s mother is in ICU in Baton Rouge with severe pneumonia symptoms. Apparently the doctors and nurses only go into the room with hazmat suits on. They are awaiting test results right now. Could be pneumonia, could be COVID.

I mean... I don't find it that implausible. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the number of people who had it was 100 times the reported cases. Vast majority of the people who have the virus either aren't going to notice or have very mild symptoms.

I’m sorry to tell you this, but there is nothing the president or any politician can do at this point to speed up the testing. The mistake is set in stone.
It sucks, but you’ll have to live with it and wait and let the cdc get their testing kit production up
Trust me, they don’t need a president’s phone call to get this done.

Which is exactly why everything is shutting down. They’re trying to prevent the spread of it to the at-risk folks who can’t fight it.

If Ohio has that many cases then many states do, as well. That’s a really high number and I question how they got it.

I'm so hoping that mine can walk to get that diploma this May.

Exactly. We don't want to end up like Italy so we have to take the punch in the mouth now to avoid the kick to the balls later.

Congrats. Your overreaction helped put you in that situation

That would be like blaming Obama for it taking 10 months to develop a H1N1 vaccine. Some people have an agenda and politicize every fricking thing. Blame fricking China for being a gross arse country.

Still waiting for you to post examples of fear porn from last 10 pages and your qualifications to know more than CDC and State Health Departments. Hell, find one if MY posts from past 10 pages “overreacting.”

Frisco, McKinney & Prosper ISDs have extended spring break for another week and will evaluate e-learning opportunities if the break will be extended.

I’m sorry LSUGrrrl. I really am. This hysteria has unnecessarily affected so many.

Ma'am, this thread is over 600 pages. That's not even 5% of what's been said in here.
