We didnt make it worse
However
We are about to cancel a tournament played by 18-22 year olds that makes 100s of millions of dollars in order to potentially help the spread of a virus that appears to only be dangerous for elderly that has currently killed 4,500 people worldwide and 36 in america because these young people could get it do to playing in the tournament and later potentially spread it to someone that would be around an older person.
Not logical to me. Just isnt. Call me a moron, call me selfish. Fine. You feel good about yourself for "doing domething"

How man ICU beds do you think are in the NOLA area 350? Just a guess but %40 are currently in use. It would not take much to overwhelm the healthcare system.
Where I work, pretty much 95% of the ICU beds are in use. We could increase capacity beyond that but we would run out of trained staff and resources pretty quick. Hoping the hot spots stay away from where I live.

CDC director Robert Redfield admitted some Americans who seemingly died from influenza were tested positive for novel #coronavirus in the posthumous diagnosis, during the House Oversight Committee Wednesday. #COVID19
Wow
So where are these numbers. This is why they classified all the meetings.

It makes the perception of the disease worse. Increasing fear and panic. We're shutting down things that have no business being shut down right now. Kung Flu might as well be called the Nursing Home Virus. But you'll never hear that in an evening news report.

You could spin this as actually good news. Clearly this thing has been here for months being diagnosed as flu or a flu like illness. Yet there hasn’t been some huge spike in flu cases or flu related deaths that was particularly noteworthy.

I think that America is long gone. Just look in this thread you have literal fricking retards screeching about why we don’t freak out for the flu every single year. These people don’t give a frick until they are effected directly.

Do you have data on this? It’s early in the outbreak, I don’t think you would pick it up in the noise.

Correct, SARS, not influenza
quote:
The findings contrasted starkly with those from the 2003 outbreak of SARS in terms of viral load. "In SARS, it took 7 to 10 days after onset until peak RNA concentrations (of up to 5x105 copies per swab) were reached," the researchers wrote. "In the present study, peak concentrations were reached before day 5, and were more than 1,000 times higher."
Throat swabs were much more sensitive with COVID-19 than with the SARS virus, and the virus was easier to isolate. Seven of the nine patients had upper respiratory infection.

I mean I’m just going anecdotally. There weren’t any articles or word of mouth from people I know in the medical field that this was a particularly virulent or deadly flu season.
But idk. I’m just spit balling. No one knows anything

Dr Fauci to House Oversight:
quote:
The idea of anybody getting (tested), easily, the way people in other countries are doing it, we're not set up for that. Do I think we should be? Yes, but we're not."
"The system is not really geared ro what we neede right now -- what you are asking for... That is a failing. It is a failing. Let's admit it.

So for a true 1918 type of event, we'd really be screwed.
