except no one is saying that and people have, quite literally to the word, said those other things

This is nothing like 1918.

In 1918, they didn’t think flus were viral
In 1918, spread of information was stifled almost completely for multiple reasons
In 1918, sanitation was almost non existent compared to what it is now
In 1918, people were going to work sick constantly regardless of how they felt. This is partially war related.

LINK

Here is a YouTube link on the math for exponential growth of epidemics. Last few seconds show why cancelling things to increase social distancing is a good thing. Small changes can make a huge difference in outcomes.

Yes, it's not possible that I merely think you're a stupid person incapable of independent thought

Rather, I'm hoping people die in large numbers

It may be too late.

This is going to get very real for many of the deniers soon.

The biggest losers of this situation is the travel industry and that was going to happen regardless.

That is simply not true. I just received word that my second largest client may be shutting down all of their projects for the time being due to COVID-19. This trend may very well continue across industries and a lot more than the travel industry will be heavily impacted.

Almost every conference basketball tournament was just canceled. Holy frick what are we doing. So many people trying to out virtue the other.

So fricking stupid. Why don't we just quarantine the elderly and those already in bad health? Life does not have to stop for those of us who wont be affected by this even if we get it. I know some smartass is about to hop in and say some bullshite about how they could get it and pass it on to old people. Well genius, just don't go over to your parents house til this blows over and tell them to stay home. That would be a smart thing to do even if we do cancel literally everything and lock ourselves up at home.

Ok, so just to be clear, you agree it doesn't actually make it worse, it just makes the perception worse.

Would you agree, that while extreme, these measures likely slow the spreading of the virus?
